Just need some direction here.
I just purchased this wand and its VERY nice for a Bang Wand. Inside it had a spent copper cap that I haven't seen before. If you have any ideas where I can find some would you please drop me a PM. I've tried those little red plastic caps you buy at Wal-mart and you can just barely hear a report. Appreciate your help! Brad

I believe what you will be needing is .22 caliber, blanks for a starter's pistol.

Hmmm...you may be right. That looks different than what's inside MY Bang Wand.
My Bang Wand does take .22 Blanks. =Frank=

Hey Brad,
I am not sure, but that looks as if a cap for a black-powder rifle might fit it. Don't take my word for it, but maybe that will be a possible lead. Let me know how it turns out. Regan

Or maybe just a primer...
Take the wand to your local gun shop and talk with the owner. He will hopefully be able to guide you, and it's not like you are really revealing anything. |

Thanks Reagan and Eric.
I do some reloading myself and have both pistol and rifle primers on hand. That was my first thought but the smokeless primers pack a punch so I was afraid to try on such a nice piece. However, I was thinking that the smashed cap did look a lot like a black powder primer. I just was unsure and wanted some feed back before trying it. Maybe I can take this smashed cap with me into a gun shop and ask if it is a black powder cap. Again, appreciate the suggestions and help. Brad

It is called a 22 caliber crimped shell. A gun shop or sporting goods store should be able to help you.

Brad, that look just like the nipple on my black powder rifle. The remains also look like the shell of a primer cap to me. I'm not saying to try it because I am not sure, but I think you can get primers that are different powers. I'm not certain if they have a strength gage for primers, but I know I have used some that pack a much bigger punch than others.

It's very scary that magicians should know so much about shooting things!
(kidding!) I've also been wanting to get a bang wand for quite some time. Brad, did you ever get yours to work? Where's the best place to pick one of these up? Best To All! Chris |

Regan,
My mom tells a great story about her father cleaning his shotgun in front of her dates when she was in high school.....FUNNY!!!! So do some of you hunt? I've always wanted to as I absolutely love deer-steak ....it's simply a matter of work vs. family time. Unfortunately, my kids and wife don't like deer meat, so that plays a part in it.... |

Hi Everyone! Thanks ever so much for everyones help.
It looks like I have a definitive answer. It looks like the nipple is that of a black powder rifle and is in fact replaceable. Also, it uses a Percussion Cap #11 for Black Powder Guns. Tried it and it worked/sounded beautifully! I can also stuff flash paper or cotton in the barrel and get a nice flash. I'm Loving it! Richard, I need to Pm you about buying a Wilting flower. I heard yours are the best! Chris, I just happened upon this one and its my second bang wand. As you can see, they have very different styles to choose from. The one I'm showing here is no longer made but would highly recommend it if you find one used. I also have another which has a double load and uses the cheap plastic caps found in the Toy Department at Wal-Mart. It works fine but have been using it for 12 years and seldom need the second load. Also, it tends to flatten the aluminum tips with use and have had to file them back into shape twice. The also make a bang wand that has a spring action that strikes a 22 blank that will startle the most alert person in the audience. Those aren't my thing, I just like using the wand (w/ flash paper) to draw attention to or away from something. Works great! Reagan, I got a chuckle out of the teenage daughter thing! I have told my wife on more then one occasion that I would do that. Or just set a cartridge on the mantle with his name in black marker on it. HA! Thanks again for everyones help and maybe this will help others who are searching for the same answer. Brad

I've got a couple of the German ones (the good ones) that I have to finish refurbishing. They use the Plastic caps. You still have to be careful with them.
Clownboy, I got your email. I will get it out Monday before I go to Yuma for another week. Richard
