There is so much information here I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to approach it.

Hey Dude, welcome to the Café!
It's best to pick just one forum, go to the very first page, and then read EVERYTHING that interests you. I'm a little funny about forums: I lurk for a very, very long time before jumping in. I lurked here for about a year before joining, and then another six months or so before actually posting. I'm not suggesting you do that, but since you asked how to approach such a large amount of information, I *would* suggest being patient. If you just discovered the Café, plan to spend anywhere from 10 to 100 hours reading before you can actually get a feel for the different forums and their flavor and atmosphere. Not to mention who are nice gals and guys and who might get a bit aggressive if you just jump in and ask a bunch of questions that have already been asked several times. But the absolute BEST thing you can do is introduce yourself a little better. Who are you? How old are you? What do you do for a living? What kind of magic are you interested in? Then we'll all say welcome and open our arms and try to help you in any way we can. Jeff |

I just joined up too a few days a go and I have gotten SOOOO much out of the forum already. While the secrets stay locked away in secret sessions to us new members, I recommend scrolling through all the forums and opening a new tab for each area of magic you are interested in. Then you can do searches (beware, searches time out so you can only do so many at a time) for any specific tricks you already know and learn how these guys prefer to perform them.
Have a great time with magic!
