Now why do you hate UPS? Now please don't tell me, because this couldn't be true, that you ignored my information on shipping to Canada and how the way it is now structured if you ship via ground service it is really more expensive than if it shipped via air because customs brokerage isn't included on ground but is for air. Now that that is cleared up, why do you hate them?

Okay, I'm gonna say this one more time and please, unlike the last time, can we avoid the 40 people saying I'm a moron and then saying exactly what I said.
A couple years ago Canada changed their import procedures and the end result was that surface shipments will have to be cleared the same as air shipments but the ground carriers like UPS bill the consignee (that is the receiver) for the brokerage etc while the air shipments include in the rates the brokerage. So read this....if you are using a courier like UPS Ground (note it isn't just UPS and they are not sticking it to you) you will get handed a bill for additional charges. It often is cheaper to ship using the air rates. Thank you. |

Here is what I suggest you Canuckers....do like the Aussies did and form a group of magicians who will make an order at one time and everyones stuff will ship in one shipment. This very much reduces the cost to each individual. The Aussies I know actually got a wholesellers license and got an account with a major magic distributor so they were getting wholesale prices to boot (and believe me, the margin of profit is thin so support shops).

I would do that, but this wasn't a magic product . Film equipment that I can't find over here.
40$ isn't that much compared to what I paid, it's just an annoyance. Mitch

I get stuff sent to me all the time - always take the cheapest air option - the price is reasonable - and there are no brokerage fees etc.
Bulk buys make sense though - the California oranges I have in my kitchen at the moment were cheaper at the supermarket than the local ones. They are a bit dry though - I suspect Higley and his neighbours are extracting the juice and then sending their used oranges to us stupid Aussies. Destiny |

You'll like this Destiny. I know a great magician in Australia who needed something very quickly. I won't go into detail but I got it there as quick as it could possibly be done, even had an office girl, excited to meet this fellow, hand deliver the item. No way anyone could have beat my time. I get a call, I had repacked the item and didn't pack one component so it was of no use!
Mitch, I'd still get a group together for magic! Sorry you got stuck but rules is rules and again, it isn't UPS' idea though idiots will claim it is, they don't know squat. |
