This is THE DVD to get on the Egg Bag. Bob White is the best in the industry on the Egg Bag next to Denny Haney.
While your at it....get his torn and restored tissue as well. |

Denny has started doing workshops on the egg bag. Unfortunately I haven't been near Baltimore or Las Vegas when they were scheduled. It would be great if he could get that material onto a DVD so more of us could see it.

I just received the dvd last night. As is my custom I only watch the performance part of the video in the beginning at first. My reasoning is that I want to see it (or at least try to) from an audience member's perspective without trying to work out what the moves are. I have not watched the teaching part yet. I can say from watching Mr. White perform it for laypeople that it is absolutely wonderful both in the areas of astonishment and entertainment. Hope that helps.

Hi All,
This DVD is the Real Deal! I consider myself fortunate that Bob shared this material with me several years ago and alowed me to use it. He also made me promise to keep it to myself. I honored that request, with the exception of one "move" that I asked his permission to tip in my upcoming set of DVD's with L&L. He graciously gave me permission, I think because he wasn't going to release his work. I consider this the "post graduate course" on the Malini Egg Bag. If you already do it, you need this DVD. If you are even remotely considering doing the Malini Egg Bag, you must get this DVD. The routine is excellent, the individual sequences sublime and the overall impact is deadly. It's the best thing I've seen published on the effect. Marc DeSouza |

Guys,
Can anyone who watched the DVD of Bob White's Malini Egg Bag routine tell me what type of bag and egg he uses? I bought the DVD but I want to buy the same type of bag material he uses and I want it to all come in at the same time so I can immediately start practicing! A link to the online store that sells it would be great! I saw Bob do this routine in Texas at the SAM convention last year. I loved it, so glad he came out with this DVD. Thanks for any help! |

Probably a deluxe Fabric Manipulation bag or one of the standard (cheaper) black Malinis that Denny sells. Both are excellent.
Whenever I find myself gripping anything too tightly I just ask myself "How would Guy Hollingworth hold this?"

Bob uses a Malini style egg bag that his mother made for him many years ago. Any standard Malini egg bag will work with Bob's routine.
Unfortunately the material is no longer being produced. I will post a more detailed review of the DVD in the next week and it should be reviewed in an upcoming M-U-M, Genii, or Magic. Jordan |

Thanks for the info guys.
How does this bag look? It looks like its good material (non wrinkle is a plus). http://www.vikingmagic.com/?nd=full&key=755 |

To be honest, it's difficult to tell without holding the bag in your hands, but it looks okay.
Personally, I use the Bazaar de Magia Egg Bag. They are cheap and I own about three in case I lose/ruin one. The Welch Egg Bags are nice as well. Those are the only ones that I have felt, except for Bob's. Jordan |

You should check out Danny Tong's bags. They are the best I have used. The Bazaar bag is not correctly made, too large.

I got one and checked it out. The handlings of the bag itself are extremely important and Bob does a great job of that. I didn't find the presentation very entertaining compared to other offerings. The real nice thing about the DVD is the handling of the bag. This is very important! A cozy handling of the bag will kill an eggbag routine. Bob teaches you how to handle the bag. I don't recommend it as a must for someone that already has a wonderful handling for the bag but if you don't it's great.
My personal philosophy about the requirements to make this trick the most deceptive (and not everyone agrees) is that: 1. the crowd must know that the egg is real and fresh and fragile. (Not plastic, not a hollow egg, not a golfball, not wooden. A REAL FRESH EGG. And a real fresh egg does have some weight to it). 2. the bag must look lightweight, fragile, thin, etc. 3. when the egg disappears the handling must NOT look cozy. not for an instant. 4. the hole in the bag must be BIG (not small). 5. the bag must look the same inside-out as it does inside-in. 6. the bag should fit your hand perfectly. Not too big. The malini bag has all these qualities. The eggs-actly egg looks and feels like a real egg. It's light but heavy enough that if a spectator pulls it out of the bag they will probably think it's real. I think it's a perfect combo. (For me).

Thanks for the information guys.
I'm still gettting Bob White's DVD because I loved what he did at the SAM convention in Dallas. However, I'll probably go with Hobson's egg bag set that I saw off penguinmagic.com. There have been several people say they highly recommend it in another forum. My reasoning is that it comes with two large unbreakable eggs, I do a lot of kid shows and I know those kids would eventually break an eggs-actly egg. I don't want to have to keep paying for eggs! |

I agree with Frank's comments.
AS few months ago I was lucky enough to be at a convention where Bob White lectured and performed. His routine fit bim like a glove. It was clean and easily understood. His handling was flawless and smooth. Although his routine is his and would not fit me, I fell in love with part of his last phase. So I bought the DVD. Bob is an excellent teacher and explains everything you need to know about the bag and it's handling. His routine is broken up into 3 (or 4, depending on how you count) phases, and each is disected and explained, the "how's" and the "why's". I enjoyed the DVD, and after 30 years of using the malini bag, now I have a better understnading of it. Needless to say, I recommend this product. Tony Iacoviello |

Well....I have become a "Jeff Hobson Egg Bag Man". But, I have to say, Bob White did a fantastic job on this DVD and even though I'm a Hobson not a Malini style egg bag man, I got allot out of this DVD. I think when you fall in love with a plot in magic, you can only help yourself by looking at as much written/recorded on what you use ( over time of course ).
This is a wonderful DVD!

I believe one of the biggest benefits of all Bob's DVDs is seeing the way in which he handles the props. He handles all his props in a natural and unassuming way that is very disarming. |
