I'm not sure what to think but. it is a good ideal with the police being there so that the public can meet them. I just am not sure how people think about bombs nowadays because of 911 but I wish you the best of luck maybe I should call my uncle and see if he can tape it for me if you allow it of course.

Thanks everyone!

Don- Yes, it's my own idea. What I wanted was for it to be an escape from the most impossible situation I could think of. When I think "secure", I couldn't imagine anything stronger than a device designed to contain a major blast. So, that's kind of my advertising angle- to try and do what even a bomb can't do Smile

This won't be a full view escape, but my method should offer a lot to see, while still keeping it a mystery. I'll post pics when it's all finished!

Hey all!

Yep, I'm still here and pleased to say that the stunt went quite well. This one was fun! We had a huge turnout on a day which was supposed to rain but luckily held off. Now that it's done, I can share the routine:

I step up to a platform and greet the audience, and warm up with a quick mentalism piece. The head of the bomb squad tells the audience a few specs on the bomb containment vessel. I am then handcuffed and placed in a sack, and chains are locked around the bag. With my feet visible through holes in the bottom, I am picked up and carried to the vessel by an assistant and a cop in full SWAT gear. My still-visible ankles are shackled with leg irons. Everyone steps back to allow a final view inside, and the SWAT cop climbs atop a ladder to watch from above. The head of the bomb squad then fires up the generator which powers the unit, and pushes the buttom which activates the closing sequence. The hydraulic door closes and the two yoke pieces lock around the door. A cloth is placed in front of the door, but the entire unit is still otherwise completely visible. After approximately 4 minutes, the door is seen to open. The cloth is pulled away, and standing in the opening of the unit is not me, but a female assistant! The cop in SWAT gear, who has never moved from his spot atop the ladder, removes his mask and it's me!

The whole thing was a lot of fun. What was really cool was being able to do this with no restrictions on where people could sit or stand. This routine had to be designed to be totally angle proof because it was literally done in the middle of a crowd in a public downtown square. Lots of folks were close enough that they could actually touch the bomb unit.

You can see some of the pics at:

So wast this more of an illusion than an escape? I cant recall what you said originally in the advertisign (ok I did not read it all!).

Welk done though! Pictures look good. Did you get any video footage?

So, instead of a 'Houdini,' you did a 'Blackstone.'
Nicely thought out.
