Hello folks,
I'm hoping for some advice here. I have a little pyrotechnics question I was hoping you might be able to help me with. I’ve been cast as Mr. Applegate in *** (hehe the filter took out Dam n) Yankees that goes up this June. If you are not familiar with the show, it’s a 1950’s musical that is loosely based on Faust. A middle-aged guy sells his soul to the devil to become young again and lead his baseball team to victory over the Yankees. I play the devil, Mr. Applegate. Some say it’s typecasting… I’m sure you can see how playing the devil and pyrotechnics are related. Specifically the script calls for: "He makes a sudden move, there is a flash of fire and he is smoking a lighted cigarette." I have found this device, but as I understand it doesn’t produce flame, just an ignition source. http://www.theatrefx.com/store/commerce......._devices Universal Electronic Igniter™ Can be used to discreetly ignite almost anything. Perfect for Flash Paper and Flash Cotton! Small unit is easy to palm and vanish. Wonderful for magically lighting Mr. Applegate's cigarette in the play "*** Yankees". Requires two 9V batteries and Surefire Igniters (purchased separately). Specifications Dimensions: 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" Ignition: 9 VDC I’m thinking a cigarette that is prepped with some flash paper on the end might make the effect of fire and the lit cigarette when used with this device. I’m hoping you might have some input I'd also like the cigarette to just "appear" I don't have any stage magic experience... Thanks!! |
