All new season starts April 15th!!!
I was a Boatswain Mate in the Navy, I would be out on deck working. I drove a 24-ton Boat and Airplane crane amongst my many duties. If I were a Crab fisherman, I would be out on deck swinging pots or working the crane. Those guys on the fishing boats are some of the baddest dudes out there! They are Boatswain Mates and they can die from what they do, out there in the Bering Sea. Next time you eat King Crabs take a moment to consider the sacrifice that was made to get it to your table. King Crab fishermen make Ice Road Truckers look like the little league... |

I gotta say the show rocks the first few times, then it gets to be boring.
I get it, yea dangerous and all. But after a bit, it is pretty old. Anyhow as for "deadliest job" I am not sure statistically it bears out. Hasn't EVERY Pope died in office? Mortality rate for the Pope is 100% right? What percentage of American Presidents die in office, and have been shot? Pretty high percentage as well. LOL. So 'deadliest' may not be right! Jokes aside, and bordome aside, those guys at gut check time, have a ton of heart. They are definatly mans men. They have my respect to say the least.

I don't think there is a single most dangerous job.
Working the boats is very high on the list and I too give them all the respect they deserve. Coal Miner's have a dangerous job as well and as far as I am concerned, I would rather die in the freezing waters of the Bering Sea than deep underground in a dark, cold coal mine (or any mine or cave for that matter). Having worked as a Choke Setter for a High-Lead logging outfit I can tell you that working in regular boots (not cork boots) during the time of year that the bark is sliding off of the logs is as dangerous as I dare to wander. Not as dangerous as other jobs but more danger than I welcome. Astronauts have a dangerous job as well but in all probability if they die on the job it is most likely to be quick and painless. Our young Men and Women in Iraq have a very dangerous job as well and they have the benefit of not being payed very well. Iven

You were a boatswains mate, and I have never seen you post once at the "ropes and loops" section of the magic Café? What's with that? You are the rope wrangler we need to answer all the rope magic questions. Did you ever have to do the man overboard drill? Man the boatswains mate job was the dirtiest job on the ship, and the most tattoos in the navy. Do you hae hoola girls on your forarms? Danny is right when the college of Cardinals elect you it is the kiss of death.

Yo Al!
I was stationed on a repair ship (one of the greatest to sail the seas. Also one of the rowdiest.) There were more than 60 shops on the ship and a crew of just shy of one thousand. The two biggest divisions on the ship were the deck crew (Boatswain mates and deck apes.) and the Engine crew (boiler and hull techs.) Our division had more than 150 people. At any given time 125 of them would be on ships restriction or some sort of extra duty...lol Believe me, I can tell you stories that you would not believe. Just know this, Boatswain mates are some of the Badest Mo-Fo's in the Navy! No doubt. And check this out. Gunners mates don't even get to fire the guns! They just work on them, the same way the engineman on my boat, he just worked on the engine and never was allowed to drive! And for the Gunners, the Boatswain mates fired the guns! And yes, I was very good at the rope (line, really) work. I grew up an Italan fishermans son. My dad used to make all his nets and hammocks. I made all the fancy work around the boat as well as the fenders. I used to do all kinds of splicing and back-splicing. I even did some duty in the Sail loft shop. But that was more than twenty years ago. |

Oh, just to be clear.
It's deadliest CATCH, not deadliest job. So, I guess compared to other Fishing jobs, it's the deadliest?! All new season starts this week! More Big waves...more high seas...more action...more drama...more camera angles... |

Yeah, that's right, I used to work on the crab boats, I've done it. I am a badass dude! I smelled like fish and crabs for weeks after disembarking from my boat. And Danny Doyle made a funny!

I'll look on the Warped Tour schedule. They are in the UK before then and their original management was in NY before the Green Day guys got them... so maybe a gig before they leave.

Not only is death a certainty for all Popes, but they keep your remains untill the end of time. Some day they will give up the body of Charles Manson, but Pope John Paul VI will never return to Poland.

I would say hepatitis is the deadliest catch.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Justin if you're interested, I have a picture of my boat, the Baranof, on my myspace pics...check it out. the boat was a WW2 ice breaker, double hull, 180 feet long. That job (crabbing)was the stuff nightmares are made of.
