Found a way cool video in my emailbox this morning.
Fantastic Machine The video was sent to me by The Amazing Zeemo, Paul Kyprie. Paul sent a video file. Don't know how to post such a thing to the Café, so I found the above link via Google. The truveo site was near the top of the sites that Google listed for "Fantastic Machine." The video file Zeemo sent was of higher quality. It's still in my emailbox. I can forward it to interested parties. Stan Alger |

Yeah isn't this the new thing Greg Kennedy is working on?

Apparently, the video is often forwarded with accompanying text that claims
the Fantastic Machine exists and was assembled from farm equipment. (An obvious hoax. If it existed, why would we be watching an animation?) I have since discovered that this animation has been circulating on the internet since last fall. So I'll bet it's already appeared in this forum. Finally: Don't know why I added "The Amazing" to Zeemo's name (other than the fact that he is amazing.) I meant to write "Zeemo the Magnificent." Stan |

Anton,
Yes, Greg is a very creative fellow. I love the stuff he comes up with. I recognized the smiley. Didn't comment 'cuz I was reponding to a private message informing me that the "machine" was a hoax. Stan |

I'm amazed that snopes would feel obligated to cover this "hoax."
Do they also have a page pointing out that "Star Wars" is a "hoax"? (Star Wars is pure fiction and didn't really happen a time long ago in a galaxy far, far away.) Does snopes have a page exposing the Santa Claus hoax? (No, Virginia, there isn't really a Santa Claus!) |

I think it was just that many people believed it was "real", and didn't realize that it was CGI.
So many of my friends sent me the video believing it was real, I'm happy that Snopes was able to clear up the mystery and falsehood. Unlike Star Wars & Santa Claus, this was an "internet" based video being fowarded quite frequently, with claims that it was real, and that's the type of hoaxes Snopes.com deals with. best, todd
