Is there a way to download and save on your computer a film clip from You Tube?

I've been curious about this too and did a little looking around. It looks like there are several sites that allow you to do this. Here's a video on YouTube that explains the process for one of them. The all look very similar.

The Firefox browser has a neat plug-in called "unPluged" that allow you to download most embedded media.

Hi Pete,

For a not to savvy tech guy, this is easy to use

http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/

There are others that does the same thing too:

Simply paste the youtube url, and it will pop up a save as/download window.

After that if the file name is like get_video without extension, then later you have to rename it to whatever.flv

.flv is a spesific extension for video on the web such as youtube etc. It can't be played using the usual Windows Media Player.

You can play this kind of file type using VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Hope this help Smile

p.s: If you care to find out more, check this huge list Smile http://mashable.com/2007/05/05/download-youtube-video/

I use the latest/greatest Real Player http://www.real.com. It gives you a download option for youtube or any other imbedded video.
