OK, I'm back from rehab and I had a birthday yesterday so I drank a whole bottle of retsina with my hot dog pizza (don't ask) and I have returned to the Café to provoke you with questions of religion and politics until I get summarily banned.

Here's the question: do you use a pen or a pencil? Of course, I'd appreciate getting more specific, like this:

64% of the time I use a Dixon Ticonderoga 1388-2/HB soft, sharpened with an authentic class-room style, wall-mounted, hand-cranked, double-cylindered rotary sharpener.

22% of the time I use a Japanese made Papermate[c] Ph.D[c] with black ink.

3% of the time I use a Sanford[c] Sharpie[c] fine point permanent marker--ALWAYS red.

1% of the time I use a Montblanc Meisterstück Le Grand, also with black ink.

The rest of the time I use whatever is available to use from someone else--usually a cheap, nondescript ball point pen.

So...what do YOU write with?

I use a pen... Anyone who still uses a pencil has a keen lack of committment.

I do most of my writing with chalk.

Would you fill out a check with a pencil?

Have you ever gotten very far along in making a mechanical drawing and realized you made a mistake, and then realized you are using a pen?

One size does not fit all.

Contracts in pen, no changes allowed. Calendar in pencil....do not send your contract back with deposit then I can erase you.

Every thing else in pen.

Test reports, contracts, anything "official"...blue ink pen. Estimating, drafting, crossword/sudoku...pencil, and pretty much everything else...mechanical, 0.7mm hb lead pencil (I'd actually prefer 0.9mm but I can't find those pencils much anymore.
The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Oh, yeah... my mistake. Smile

Let me re-word...

"Have you ever gotten very far along in making a mechanical drawing and realized you will be happier later if you change your mind now?"

As far as committment... if you want ink, get a tattoo. Smile

PICK ONE
Do you want aisle, or window?
Do you want table, or booth?
Do you want smoking, or non?
Do you wear boxers, or briefs?
Do blonds really have more fun?
Do you hang left, or hang right?
OR
Do really want the pencil or pen answer?

Americans - Spend God knows what on developing a pen you can use to write with in space.

Russians - Use a pencil.
-A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic.
-It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them.
-The secret impresses no one. The trick you use it for is everything.

Depends.

I prefer to use a Bic mechanical pencil, but I like participants to use a pen.
