The archetypal theme of separating aspects of yin from yang is very natural and very powerful and the O.O.T.W. principle works perfectly for it. It is no surprise that creative performers would wish to explore the possibilities. I see no reason why we should not see even more versions of it than we have for say, the paddle move. In fact, I think an entire book filled with a variety of presentations for O.O.T.W. would be great and Jay Are's contribution would be a gem among them. Any takers? Cheers.

You´re right christopher and I have no problems with OOTW, if this should be the principle.
But it just would be fair to say that OOTW is the basic principle behind that effect instead of answer with silence to that specific question. By the way, I already preordered split reality.

It’s almost 2:am and I should be peacefully snoozing. However, I checked my e-mail one last time and discovered my copy of “Split Reality” was ready for download. So I clicked on the link….downloaded the hefty 43MB package and just had to take a look.
IMO Jeff brings us a real world, workable routine. He eliminates the need of performing any type of “move”; which many versions of this style of effect require for the convincer. The package contains 30, high res, black and white photos; beautiful shots that fit the concept of the routine wonderfully. You must print them yourself…but then I did mention it came as a download didn’t I? Is this entirely new? No…but I don’t remember Jeff ever claiming otherwise. Was I disappointed? Not at all. For the price I received a manuscript which refines a wonderful idea within a plausible framework. I know my audiences will follow the plot and enjoy the presentation. So…in my opinion…Jeff would not be amiss if his add copy for Split Reality should read like this: "a fantastic ... real world offering...a brilliant application of one of mentalism's great effects. Split Reality includes elegant artwork and a clearly presented manuscript with a contribution by Luke Jermay.” Best regards, Michael BlackSalt |

FROM HELL is about more than just separating photos- it has a considerable historical back story which really makes the effect. It's a great piece of theatre (though am a little biased as one of the provided handlings is mine )
However I'm with Chris Taylor here- there are enough alternate handlings of OOTW to fill a book- and many have their merit which comes from the presentation, not the effect per se. Sounds like JR has put together a unique version and supplied some interesting accompanying materials...
When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth...

I have known Jeff for awhile. We have shared thoughts, ideas, and just creative babble for sometime. I am very happy to see some of his work released. He is not an outside the box thinker that some people claim to be. Jeff is a real world thinker to me. He takes methods and alters the whole perception of the effect. He morphs these, adding theatre and presentation to make them gems.
Split Reality is no exception. Fantastic photographs (pure art in itself)and well written script. Luke added the final 10% in making this the best purchase of the year for me. Thanks Jeff! |

Received mine today. Wonderful routine and presentation, and beautiful pictures. However I have never performed OOTW but the method behind OOTW seems like it would be really easy for lay people to figure out. I hope I am wrong cause I will definately try out this wonderful routine - split reality.

The method in question is solid.
trust me. once again thank you for all of the praise split reality has received. the photography in the piece certainly is a cut above. I may be slightly biased! the photos are original pieces from my beautiful wife sherrise. she will be flattered to hear your plans nathan! j

The method isn't obvious at all. I've performed OOTW around a hundred times, maybe more over the past five or six years, and not only has absolutely no one ever caught on, it is also one of the most powerful effects that can done with a deck of cards, photos, index cards, et cetera. That's with the proper presentation, of course. Considering this was one of the first card effects that I learned, I was **** poor with the theatrics the first dozen or so times. This card effect helped teach me how important presentation is.
As far as I'm concerned, I feel like the one move involved in the routine has natural misdirection built into it. This, of course, depends on where you learn it from. I don't have this manuscript so I am unable to comment on how it is routined. I learned it from someone who has been performing it for decades. /paul.f |

The OOTW method in Split reality is different from other OOTW methods I have seen, so I was wondering what people who have bought Split reality think of it.
Still split reality is a wonderful routine. Ezzet |
