Dan's right. I also felt sorry for Simon. When he drew Carney I looked at my son and said "He's out!".
The show was entertaining. I do not care for Ant (as do most people). He's like watching a political debate. Hopefully he is out this week. Dan, good luck to you. I wish you the best. Regards, Jim |

The fact remains that Ant performs the magic he's been given rather well...

What's the problem? Spend 5 minutes checking out Silly Billy's website and you'll see how the razor blade trick fits in with what he does...
I was not on his website I was watching the show. If you are telling me that there is no problem with being anounced as a childrens performer and a few mins. later slicing open you finger, with blood, then there is something wrong with you.... Who looks creepy... To name names; McBride and Murray to name a few. Hans looked like a regular person. McBride wore a leather jack outside in LA, and when introduced took a bow like he was infront of thousands.... Why can't magicians act like normal people? I understand having a personality on stage, but too many performers take it too far for my taste. |

I respectfully disagree about calling people "creepy". I almost think you are joking, right? I mean, come on, this from a guy wearing a pimp costume...lol You're funny. Who you tryin to play, playa? The other thing about acting normal. Who in the world would want to "act" normal?!?!? I say, let your freak flag fly! |

You seem to forget, McBride was in front of thousands, there were TV cameras were there not? When you are a performing magician and you are in front of the public, you are in character.
As for Silly Billy doing "Zoran's Horror Finger": That may have been way out of place for a children's presentation, but he was performing for an adult in an adult venue. I am sure he has enough common sense not to reproduce the same trick for impressionable children. If more magicians behaved like “Normal” people, we would have far less competition. The point of standing out is being unique, mysterious and sometimes abnormal… |

I suspect that Ant will manage to stay in for a good long time. He's quickly established himself as the uber-villian of the group, and every reality show needs one. Just look at how many posts about the show here on the MC focus on, or at least mention, Ant. That was pretty cagey of him, I must say. It might be enough to move him from the "Z" list to the "D" list. |

Justin....Don't hate the playa hate the game.....(the picture is a goof)
I see a lot of peoples point here. I just don't like it when people take themselves too seriously, often time magicians are too serious. I have always been drawn to magicians who don't act like they have super powers. |

I talked to Jeff McBride once about my character and it's development. He told me that you always need to dress like you are going to do magic, even when going to the store. Jeff is always Jeff. We don't get the over the top Jeff on stage, then jeans and a T-shirt Jeff. I think a few serious magicians can learn a lesson or 2 from Mr. McBride.

Danny,
I hear what your saying and the philosophy behind it, but I still don't get it. It's like pretending you have super powers. Some people say that's what we are supposed to do. I just disagree. I think for the most part it's ok to let people know you are just a person who has some skills, not powers. |

If I were Wayne Houchin, Jon Bayme, or anyone else that used to work for ellusionist but left I would be kicking myself because ellusionist is probably making a ridiculous amount of money right now from this show.

I'd like to make a note about jeffs appearance on the show.
He says that he always dresses the part of a magician. If we look like everyone else what makes us unique? I dress different in public so I get noticed and it works. Just today I met someone new by dressing differently. So I wouldn't jump on jeff or murray on the styles or looks. Best Brandon

Whether I am on stage, in character, or going to the corner market for milk, I have always been told I “look like a magician”. I am fortunate to receive this compliment all the time. While I am not over-the-top like Jeff McBride or others of that ilk, I am ever conscious of my appearance.
I was incredibly flattered to read some reviews that reflected as much regarding my appearance, even before I was able to perform: Quote:
“His stately, handsome presence commands attention and his skill holds it.” Quote:
When George Anderson walked through the door of our tattoo shop, our attention was immediately captured by his presence. Aside from his appearance being that of a modern-day wizard... So just by these two examples, there is something to be said about looking the part. While I figured this out all by myself long ago, I will query Jeff McBride about it when he lectures at the Magic Castle in late May. |

The only stupid question is the one not asked.

I think he should have been on guard. Once in his Silly Billy costume, he should act accordingly. If what you claim happened, then when asked by the person to do something from his Dr. Blood act, his response should have been, "sorry, right now I'm Silly Billy."
Pee Wee Herman never confused his characters. He was either Paul Rubens OR Pee Wee. Once in character, he stayed in. |
