I buy a lot of things from http://www.shopmagicvault.com
They have great prices and the guys there are so helpful. I compared prices on a bunch of items and they were the lowest on all of them. Everything I got from them was good quality. In fact I ordered a hot rod that they special ordered for me. When it came in they did not send it to me because they saw a very small nick on the wood and sent it back for a replacement that was perfect. They are very picky about quality and I like that. They also toss in freebies. We all like freebies! I see they started offering free shipping too. The other place I like is outlaw-effects.com. they have a lot of unique stuff. Not a big selection, but it is good stuff. My other favorite magic store is the local craft store ha ha. All kinds of stuff there you can use. |

I'd also add Circle City Magic to the list - very friendly and good prices (they have a website, but check out their ebay store too - some good deals and usually has free shipping anywhere in the US.)

http://www.elmwoodmagic.com I've been doing business with Paul at elmwood magic for 20 years. It's sad that they shut down their walk in store but I have rarely ever have to go elsewhere. They now have a sister site called the hiddenbookshelf.com which makes finding new books a breeze. I bought some fako transfer pips from Hank Lee that were complete junk, and he was nice enough to refund me which is rare for any kind of magic supplies, I would definitely recommend him as well.

I'll also put in a shout for http://www.trickshopmagic.com - Chris Blankenship uses online chat so you can ask him a question (it's worked the couple of times I've needed it) and he's even picked up the phone and called me proactively once when I had a question (and he wanted to do more than just an email response). Great prices too!

Another Penguin order went wrong this week when I received the completely wrong items, but like the last two times they took care of it in the best possible way by shipping new stuff without even wanting the other ones in return.
That certainly helps patch up the disappointment at having to wait a few weeks more for the new international order. The wrong items is nothing I want to actually use, but it is great that I don't have to spring for the shipping cost to return them. Meanwhile I have kind of lost interest in what I ordered in the first place, as it was on an impulse in the middle of the night. Anyway, I continue to like Penguin a lot.

I have ordered from Penguin mostly, and I also think their service is superb. I have two orders on the way now, and I can't wait for them to get here! Normally for me their shipping has been very fast, although this time it's taking a while...although when you choose free shipping, you get what you pay for.

Like most magicians, I have purchased from may sites over the years. I have found MJM Magic, The Magic Warehouse, Out-Law Magic great is price and service. I also like Hocus-Pocus but I wish they were a little clearer on the shipping charge at the time you place your order via the internet. I have used Hank Lee in the past and visited their Boston city store before it closed. My main concern with Hanklee is that a large portion of items on the website and catalog are listed but out of stock and not obtainable. Refunds/credits are obtained but it is very aggravating to be waiting for an item which will never come.
Recently I came across a new magic store to me at http://www.MAGICPLACE.US The Magic Place had great prices and quick email responses to questions. Currently, all of their JB Magic tricks are 20% off and new customers (who sign up for the newsletter) and returning customers get an additional5% discount. I would highly recommend you checking out this site and comparing it to some of the other sites above. I do not work for any of the above sites and have no financial ties to any magic site. |

I have had good luck and good service with http://www.shopmagicvault.com. He emails me and lets me know if anything may take longer than it should. I like the communication.

Hank Lee used to be a favorite of mine, but a recent customer disservice incident over a lousy 20 bucks with Hank himself has soured the experience. I would not order from Hank Lee again.

Returning them and receiving yet another wrong item and returning THAT one only to THEN be told that they were/are out of stock of what I had ordered. I do not know if it is intentional or not, but Hank Lee's Magic Factory seems to ship the wrong items simply because they have them in stock and in hopes that their customers are too stupid to notice the difference or won't bother with going through the hassle, (and they make it a hassle), of returning the incorrectly shipped item. |
