Please forgive me, this is not magic related, I'm just asking for prayer from every source I know. As some of you may know, I'm a member of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. You may be familiar with the founder of our community, John Michael Talbot, a Christian musician. There was a fire last night in the Hermitage where the monastic members of our community live. No one was hurt, praise God, but the main complex - chapel, offices, kitchen, prayer garden - is all burnt to the ground. Thank God again that the hermitage was fully insured, and that the living quarters for the monks, sisters, and brothers was not touched. I am specifically asking for prayer for strength as my brothers and sisters rebuild, and of thanksgiving that no one was hurt. Thank you very much, and God bless.

It's good to know that everyone is ok and may God bless the rebuilding process and give wisdom and guidance to those involved.

Dave,

Your community has been in my thoughts and prayers these past few days. I know the value of community in life, and I pray that the Lord bring blessings of not just physical rebuilding, but the shared community that we can have on earth, and are promised in eternal life.
Here's hoping everything you do hits the BULLSEYE!

Glen and Tom,

Thank you. Prayers are what's requested most by the monastics. However, I'm asking for extra prayer because some are affected by smoke inhalation and fatigue. Unfortunately, a few folks did try to retrieve certain items that couldn't be replaced, pictures, artwork, the archives of the community, etc. I'm sure much of it was saved digitally by John Michael, but in the chaos of the fire some of my dear brothers and sisters were not thinking clearly. Thanks again to one and all for your prayers - the Brothers and Sisters of Charity are extremely grateful, and will keep you in their prayers.

Yours in Christ,
David

Dave,

I'm just glad to hear that everyone is doing alright. That in itself deserves praise to God...Smile

If there is anything that we can do to help the community, please let us know!

Thanks Mike,

The help is pouring in, but if you feel led by the Lord to give, here's the url for Little Portion Hermitage. http://www.littleportion.org/

Please feel free to visit just to see who you're praying for, but there is a link to a page where you can donate if you want to. Be sure to take the hermitage tour to see what God had built there. John Michael says they will rebuild in stone and green as well. I mean environmentally friendly green, not green like in emeralds. Smile But the wood structures were beautiful - be sure to take a look. I was to make my permanent vows this year, the 25th anniversary of our community as well. My wife will be making her permanent vows next year, so I think we'll just make permanent vows together as it is the custom to do so at the hermitage. Well, I'm going on a bit. Thanks again to all for praying for our community. Again, please be assured that we're praying for all of you.
