Nothing of major importance, guys, but I thought you'd all get a kick out of it - especially if you like wordplay.
I've had a few emails from a muggle who is doing some research for a novel, and she's scrabbling around trying to find out all she can about the world of mindreaders. So she noted that a 'basic text' is by someone called 'Corinda', right? And she also knew that James Randi is a famous trickster. Guess what? She wondered if 'Corinda' was really a secret anagram for 'Randi & Co' !! She was quite sincere about this and even wrote to Randi to ask him (he explained the truth). Now in all the years I've been into mentalism, why did I never spot this amazing anagram / coincidence? Maybe it's just harder to spot this kind of thing in your own field because you get too used to the names and what they mean. I had a friend who was into 'musical theatre' and worshipped the music of Sondheim. I said it was little surprise that his music gave her pleasure, because 'sondheim' is an anagram of 'hedonism'. She'd never noticed, but it seemed obvious to me! Okay... you can all get back to more important stuff now.

Anagrams rule the world.
The movie "Sneakers" had a good anagram of "Too Many Secrets," but I can't remember what it was. hehe Stedwick |

Ooh, anagrams and Randi in the same thread... this one's bound to be fun.
Randi's name always causes controversy, but if there were any actual wrongdoing, I'm sure Ian Rowland would be the first to call the law on Randi. Especially if someone like, say, Delgado lodged a formal complaint, and David de Leon landed video footage to document it. If MysticOne notices my intent with this post, hopefully he'll forgive my slight misspelling of his name to make it work. Meanwhile, Marko, Quinn (myself), and possibly others share an interesting quirk; no man can make an anagram of our names alone, although possibilities appear when they're combined with others. As for Stedwick, his posts in the cards section reveal his deck wits, but they apparently don't help him to remember phrases like: MONASTERY COSET NECESSARY MOTTO CEREMONY TOASTS COMES ATTORNEYS COMATOSE SENTRY COMETARY ONSETS COMETARY STONES CORONATE SYSTEM STEAMY CORONETS ENTREATY COSMOS TYCOON STEAMERS AMNESTY SCOOTER ECONOMY TASTERS ;) Quinn
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

When James Randi was in England, filming his "Psychic Investigator" series, he hired a taxi (cab) with his friend Pamela Wylde. Imagine the disappointment the driver got when he found out the party of "Wylde and Randi" was not what he had in mind....

You can even make anagrams in Swedish with this aid, which might be interesting for those of you who were unlucky not to be born here. Fhood, thanks for the great anagram site. I already have used to for a number of friends names and I got some amusing results. Some of the anagrams actually fit the people quite well.
Actually, this could be used in magic performances. If you know the group you will be performing for in advance, or the location, or any local place or phrase, you might be able to find a good anagram beforehand, and use it when performing. Perhaps the anagram phrase could be shown on a card, and then be 'unscambled' magically by any color change sleight.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

The coolest anagram I ever heard (thanks Tomas!) was
ELEVEN PLUS TWO = TWELVE PLUS ONE Not only is it true, but it's also an anagram in numbers as well as written out. Sure makes the nerd in me drool! Kaj |
