Why is anyone surprised at this? There are plenty of other professionals right here on the Café that are also the worlds greatest.... If you don't believe me, just ask them.

So that's what Dr. Phil is doing since the decline in ratings! Just kidding.

I actually think this is a cool thing. I have donated my services in charity auctions. (there was a minimum bid of $75). This was for a basic birthday party (value of $150). One time the people that won me paid $140 and called me to upgrade (so I made some money) and hired me on for a couple other gigs also. Upselling is easy from these type of things so you can almost always come out with some money and still feel good about helping out a good cause. I did mine for a small art museum in the town I used to live in.

There are other threads about trying aution sites to market shows... the good, the bad & the ugly.

Let's see....he has contributed a show to help one of Boston's repertory theatres raise funds, there is a Virginia Inglis on the Gala Committee (hmmmm...wonder if she is related???).

Probably doesn't need the exposure (looks like he's a senior analyst for a biomed company), oh well, no good deed etc. etc.

Cintonmagus....your point being in posting???????

How nice of him to contribute a show??

I am sure this must have been your intent.

Oh yes, worth a million? Can we say "tongue in cheek"?

I am sure his friends will get a chuckle out of it.

My original post was definitely tongue-in-cheek. I think it's wonderful that he is donating his show to such a worthy cause. I believe I understood his aution's $1,000,000 value exactly the way he intended it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of you.

I hope they get their $1M bid...

Wow leading bid is already up to a whopping 50 bucks towards his 1million dollar value. better get those bids in fast folks. On a serious note, I do not mind someone trying to use an auction site as a new marketing concept or tool. I am all for trying new things. It is just the way this is done that bothers me.

The worst clown I have ever seen advertises herself as "voted best in Philadelphia" and she does lots of kids parties every weekend.

I think he needs to get some press on it and a corporation might pay the fee for their event... (as a donation)

C'mon, folks! It's for charity! I see nothing wrong with the listing. I only posted it because I thought it was humorous (in a good sort of way).

I would only have written it differently is all. I would have played it up more and talked amore about rhe fundraiser aspect of it and what the place they are raisng money for does. Talk about how the money can help. I have no problem with him doing this as I personally commend someone for trying a new tactic in marketing.
