Is this still available as either a manuscript or as part of a book? I believe this is the one that John Calvert used to do. Thanks!

I think it is in McGill's Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis?

Indeed three pages are dedicated to it in McGills book.
There is another thread on this page about it. Make sure you can wink if you plan to do it. Despite my cynicism about the method I'd love to see someone using this on stage to great effect. Anthony

I am away from home at this time and can't get to my books. But if this is the method, (act) where everyone of stage is having FUN! WINK, WINK... then yes, I have done this a number of years ago. It was FUNNY as heck! You just have to have the man bits to do it. LOLOnce the action starts then everyone joins in the fun. When you help the first person back up to their feet and the other guy falls down, is just too funny.I did it just like it was written in Mr. McGill's fine book. It was one of his paper back books that had it in it. I do not recall reading about it in his hard back books.Ray Noble

It has it's place if you ask me. It is a valid way to pull off a show if you absolutly HAVE too. It is not a substitute for the real thing, but in a pinch!

I think it would probally play better than the real thing IMHO.
- after all look at paul daniels doing the "electric chairs", it has been a much loved classic part of his act for 30 years, - and still to this day, has the audience howling with laughter, and "beleiving" it was hypnosis! it has allways been the favourite part of his act for most. I recently sold my mcgills encyclopaedia of stage hypnosis, so no longer have access to the "dr q hypnotic act", damm it ! just when I actually need it! - is it possible to still obtain just the "dr q hypnotic act" manuscript? can anyone help? steve |

Trick shop is selling The Dr. Q's Hypnotic act. Can they do this?

The Dr Q routine came out as a small pamphlet. That was when I was first introduced to it, as a child. It is also described in McGill's encyclopaedia. I did not realise Trickshop had it, but I am sure they have every right - it was always available separate from the McGill book.
The routine does work, and works well. I have used it for corporate gigs, when people are too inhibited to be hypnotised in front of their colleagues. It is a great thing to have in your arsenal. If you are looking to do this, you should also read Zapped by Ricky Dunne, and The People Sticker Routine by Eddie Burke. If it is really your cup of tea, you could follow up by reading Telepathy in Action by Orville Meyer. It is a ballsy routine, but so well worth the effort.
