Hi. My names is James. I'm 28. I've always loved watching magic, but recently decided to try my hand at doing it myself. I'm currently unemployed (waiting for hiring by law enforcement) so I've got some extra time on my hands. If I had to nail down a style that I'll be working in, mentalism or street magic will probably be my forte. Looking forward to learning a LOT here.

What type of magic do you want to learn besides street, card, coin, sponge? I was watching a show about celebrities called abracadabacelebrity or something on VH1, it's a show about celebrities and professional magicians teaching these B rate celebs magic . One of the persons there had a magazine piece of paper and made a live mouse appear from it! That was one of the best trick I've ever saw, I recommend you watch it. By the way, rocco was his mentor. Sponge magic is a great way to learn a lot about misdirection, and sleight of hand. I recommend it. Also, you can do tricks where 2 sponges appear in their hand, travelling from yours (invisibly) to theirs. It's a great way to do magic because it happens in the audiences hands. Also, the sleights are pretty easy to master . Again, nice to meet you and I look forward to talking to you! Fish |

I realize that compared to some harder tricks it's nothing, but getting the angles and palms down takes a LOT of work. Really makes you appreciate those who have mastered spongeball sleight. There are a TON of tricks I want (Raven, scotch and soda, super Sharpie), but I have a few now (invisible deck, stripper deck, 'levitator' with IT, spongeballs with magic purse and beanbags for juggling) that I need to master before I will spend any more money on new tricks. I'll see if I can't find that show/video you mentioned. Sounds cool. Again, thanks for the encouragement and I look forward to being a part of this community. |
