What am I sacrificing because of high gas prices?
Nothing much. Just the trivil things in life like groceries, food....

That's funny Doug. We live in a country with an ever expanding rate of obesity. Where people are in search of a miracle diet pill and are still buying expensive prepackaged diet food; the ones they learn about on their cable TV package $$$$ or on the internet. Dare I mention cell phone fees?
POOF!

I can't afford a cell phone anymore since gas started going up. I have always avoided prepackaged diet foods...I shun pills.
I'm FAR from obese... But I am still missing where the funny part comes in...

I think the "funny" (Random House Definition #5: curious/strange/peculiar/odd) part, at least with respect to what poverty means in other countries, is that we live in a country where an amamzing percentage of "poor" people even WORRY about gas prices (i.e. have cars, let alone TV sets, computers, etc.) Not to mention a POSITIVE correlation between weight and poverty (i.e. the less money you have, the more likely you are to be OVERweight).

I think it's funny that fuel/gas/petrol prices go up and suddenly there's two threads on horses in a week.

The Amish aren't so dumb after all.
Probably sitting back in their antique chairs (or whatever they use) and laughing their butts off at the rest of us... Yup. Horses and motorcycles. That's where the future is at folks.

Sorry Daffy - out of breath - just dashed in from hitching up the buggy.
I think many of us harbour a little envy for the Amish lifestyle. I grow some of my own vegetables and I hope on retirement it's a little farm in the country for me - but I refuse to wear those clothes. Destiny |

Ironic and funny.
This morning two women were talking about rising prices, same gripes as everyone. To top it off one of the women said (casually) she'd just paid $950 to buy her daughter a cheerleader uniform ... her 8 year old! Most are not sacrificing anything but an inconvenience of their luxuries. Definitely no their grandparent's generation who knew the meaning of "saving up for a rainy day."

Thank goodness! I have had the pleasure of viewing your videos with you in show attire and it would be a crying shame to hide that figure! |

I have had to buy lower grade horse tranquilizers. They are not as tasty.
But I don't just complain, I also act. I put rags in all the car mufflers in the neighborhood to soak up the unburnt gas. I'm doing my part.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

How do I cope? As I said before, I don't own a car. Never have. Probably never will unless my joints give out and I have to give up walking / cycling as much as I do. Or perhaps if I retire to some rural parts.
Anyway, I see that oil hit $128 a barrel earlier today. Coincidentally, Bush was in Saudi Arabia today as well, asking that kingdom to produce more oil in order to stem the rise in the price of oil (Saudi Arabia politely said 'No'). And Goldman Sachs Group today issued a 'stunning' new forecast saying it expects crude to average $141 (U.S.) per barrel in the second half of this year: http://globeinvestor.com/servlet/story/R......GIStory/
