From http://www.RNT2.com:
Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move foward. That's what's happening now at RNT II SBL Magic. We had an outside polishing station, but we can no longer afford to allow the weather to affect operations that normally would have to be done outside, ie the final step, Polishing. We are just about finished an indoor ventalation system that will allow us to polish indoors during adverse weather, such at the 8 day stretch we're facing now. Within a few days, no more weather will slow us down or restrict our operations. The next step we have decided to take is to move backwards and there are others that are thinking the same way. We are going back to the elegant styles found in Hoffman books and earlier magic books from the late 1800's through the early 1900's. Expect to see props of European design and accents, also an Oriental Okito type motif line is also planned for early 2009. While a lot have accepted the new Shock Value type magic, this is just not a direction or option RNT II wants to follow. So stepping back in time will be a big step foward for the company. Something everyone has been discussing here, is the current state of chaos with the economy. The President tells us we are not in a recession, if this is actually the case, we are concerned about what the future holds for the consumer, manufacturers and retailers. With constantly changing impacts of fuel surcharges, raw material costs constantly on the rise it's becoming more and more difficult to stick to projected project costs and come up with realistic pricing for the consumer. A number of play into the calculation of retail pricing. We're not living in mansions like most think. When the recession comes to a peak and starts to wind down it will take several years for the economy to level out. It will not just happen overnight like many think it will happen. A lot of the younger generation has not been through this type of economic chaos and don't know what to expect. The way we see it here we can do one of 2 things, either shut down completely until things level out or restructure the entire company, pricing, dealers etc. We have all chose to do the latter of the 2 choices. This is not an easy task as any business owner knows. To bring prices down and keep them down, not only through this economic mess, we seperating dealer items from our own line. Stevens Magic is our only dealer, items created for Stevens will be exclusive and only available through them. Items not exclusive to our dealer(s) will not be available through them, but rather RNT II SBL Magic, this eleviates dealer markup on items available through the website. Everyone here has taken a pay cut, most on payroll has voluntarily given up their pay and donating their time and labor as I have been doing for the past years. Like another big Magic Co. on the West Coast, most orders will be custom made. This free's up raw material rather than having it sit on a shelf in premade product. Isn't this going to create a wait and more bottlenecks? Yes, most likely it will, but what we feel confident that the consumer will be willing to wait to save $ on the same exact quality product for less money. Not only will this help peformers during this economic crunch, this will also open new doors to people who couldn't afford it before. We are doing away with CNC work. Most know we do not do our own CNC work, shop times have peaked out to 95.00 per hour plus materials. Items previously CNC prouduced will be redesigned for spinning. We are considering adding a small CNC machine to make miniature cups and delrin products, but that is not set in stone. This is the company's plan. Any input, suggestions good or grievences are openly welcome. Cheers, Jake |

I really like the idea of "going back in time" I will be looking forward to seeing your new product line in the near future. as for the recession and businesses, that's another story and a thesis for a dissertation right there. good luck and will be looking forward to your future projects.

Everyone,
thank you for your best wishes, they mean the world to me and make me feel better. This particular week starting on Friday has made me strong. Some might remember about a year ago our daughter was brutalized by a local gang member. Over the past year she has been through numerous reconstructive surgeries. Both she and I are in W. VA at a hospital where she has the final 36 hours of reconstructive surgery to undergo on her face from where she was beat so badly. She's been a tough spirited young lady through all this, but I know inside she keeps a lot of it locked up. Pete, I hope you to are improving in health and thank you for your concerns as well. I'm hoping we get to meet at CupsCon 2009 and if there is anything we can do to help make it happen for you to be there, please don't hestitate to let me know. Thank you again everyone, the Lord knows how supportive you've all been and your patience has been more than exceptional. Now with my brother here, I'm hoping things will resume to a normal state of production. Blessings to all. Sincerely, Jake
