Friends I am just sharing a few practical ideas that I have tried out!
Further to my post above and I quote:- Quote:

And WOW, the contrast made the illusion look extremely spooky (with face-up selected card on a face-down deck). I have yet to think of a suitable patter for using a Black Tiger Deck. Anybody?! Enjoy!

I have seen Ustaad's levitation and it looks good. Very good work.

I must say I am very impressed with Enlightenment.
It does what it says it does. Ok, the mention of a "magnetic sweet spot" in association with levitation could be interpreted as a bit "suggestive" and I did wonder if that magnetic "Levitron style" effect had (somehow) been wrestled into submission by Ben. The freedom of a spectator being able to grab the card at one point or another or looking here there or anywhere, the size of the magnet people like to use and the effective range of such are all fair topics but are also quite subjective. We could all discuss and swap hair splitters on these endlessly so let's not. As many have said, it comes down to performance. This is an effect, period. If Ben HAD developed a way of fully harnessing the elastic and bouncy nature of magnetisn within such a tiny package we wouldn't know about it. His friends and family would be wondering why he didn't answer the phone and there would be a large stack of milk bottles building up outside his door. The black cars would have driven him away a loooong time ago. Ben has come up with a very small and controlable gimmick that is driven by and uses magnetic forces. These magnets operate a finely balanced mechanism that also helps to tame the normally associated wild jecking and "skittering" that one often sees with unrestrained magnet gimmicks. It is a nifty bit of mechanical engineering very well employed materials. OK, it isn't "perfect"... basically it isn't MAGIC but c'mon, did you actually expect real magic, don't we know better by now? It CAN do the things Ben suggested, the more bold claims will take a LOT more input and deication from the performer than "10 minutes after you open the box" (why is that always touted as a good thing I wonder?). I think the worst you could lay at Ben's feet is that he is a talented magic inventor, a talented performer, a talented graphics artist and talented at telling us what we want to hear, and that's a good thing because he doesn't lie... if we choose to get all excited, run with that ball and get all knotted up because we are expecting a "dyed-in-the-wool" miracle for less than $100 that is self-working and REAL, we are just fools. I was foolishly hoping for real magic, what I GOT was a really good bit of magical kit and the fruits of Ben's hard work and I am absolutely thrilled!

Exellent TOM! I feel I will feel the same as you once recieved. I'm not one of those "Non-skilled" magicians who just want everything to work for me, I love a challenge, and actually love what I'm hearing about this effect! Looking forward to it's arrival, very tempted to kick the mail-mans azz and tell him to go search his warehouse and find it for me! Got me thinkin brother!

I would like to get mine but seems the custom people like it so much they don't want to part with it.

Good stuff, Tom. Wish I had mine in hand so I could fully agree. Somehow the excitement of being one of the "lucky 100" who were part of the "pre-release special" has dimmed completely. "Pre-release" should've read "POST-release"...you get it AFTER everybody else!
"Australian Postal: When it absolutely, positively has to be there within the month. Maybe two." Let me add something to the "Levitron" hopes that many had. Be grateful this was NOT the method with Enlightenment. If Ben had somehow tackled this successfully and applied it to cardboard, paper and so forth, it's not the black cars he'd have to worry about. It would be the millions thrown at him by toy manufactuers. Every doll, action figure, cereal box toy, you-name-it would soon be floating...and that would mean the end of close-up levitations as a magical illusion. |

Tom Lauten's reveiws are always spot on. He's a worker that...KNOWS WHAT WORKS in the real world. He's nailed what this effect is and what Ben's character is all about, as well.
Tom, thanks for sharing your valued thoughts!

Hi Tom,
Thanks so much for your considered and balanced thoughts. Chris, RooMan, the Hawk, Guys, I'm so sorry about Australia Post. But seriously, they should be there any day. We'll be uploading new "Drive Instructions" to our blog LATER today. These, in printed form, are now being added to all units when shipping. If you own Enlightenmnet or are thinking about it, these "additional instructions" should be read in conjunction with what is supplied with the boxed set. These instructions are part of our ongoing commitment to Enlightenment and are a direct result of user feedback. Check the blog http://www.wowbound.com Ben

My "Enlightenment" has arrived.
I'll be working on this today and will report back. I'll be critical, but fair. Things to think about: 1) If I don't care for it, it doesn't mean that it won't be of value to another performer. 2) If I love it and will add it to what I do, it doesn't mean it will be for everyone ( Some folks hate IT, The Zombie Ball, and..TT's, etc. ). One thing is clear, Ben Harris has been upfront with everyone about what this was about. Anyone that doesn't care for it, at least give Ben the respect he deserves by not slamming his integrity.

Mine arrived as well! The canoe came up the Trinity River around noon and the digeradoo playing aborigine brought it directly to my door.
First impressions: This has to be the BEST looking packaging I've ever seen for a magic trick. Incredible. As for the gimmick, etc...I think this will ROCK. I'm not sure what some of the posts are about concerning weak shifters 'cause mine is one potent little magnet! Within 60 seconds I had moves down with the "tumbler" training and could immediately see how cool and unique this really is. I'd estimate I'm six inches or so away from the tumbler and the gizmo begins to respond quickly. Once I have "installed" mine in my deck, I'll report back but I already know I'm very happy with it. A lot of thought and love has gone into the development of this effect. That much is immediately clear. Mind-blowing work, Ben. |

Rooman, would you please give the digeradoo playing aborigine some navigation directions to Canada. I desperately want my gizmo too!

HOLY SMOKES! Has any one that didn't care for this read the enclosed book?
This will take some work to become fluid ( thank heavens ). I'll write up something later but right off the bat, this is ingenious. It is NOT for someone that wants to open the package and go out and perform it ( which always made me laugh about self working tricks as you can't do that with them either ). The books covers some history of magnetism in magic and Patrick Snowden's PK Factor through Dan Harlan's beautiful Hover Card. As usual, I started playing with everything before reading anything. You SHOULD NOT do this. I took out the Paradigm Shifter and...the package containg the gimmick moved towards me. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I know the whole thing is a magnet effect and still I was surprised by it. I'm going to spend the afternoon reading and working on this, but I "lifted" a playing card. I made what I thought was an extremely clever gaff and was excited to write Ben about it. I'm glad I didn't: I started reading the book and he has a professional version of what I made, all written up. HAHAHAHA on me! Ben sent me one, but I would have paid triple what it's advertised for. I'm not sure if even he could have known how knocked out I'd be by Enlightenment. The attention to detail of the book is so impressive. The gimmick is precsion!

I received mine today!
Christopher is correct .. the book is freakin amazing - very very interesting. The concept/method is worth the price even without supplying gimmick. VERY VERY NICE BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I owned the floating pen so I thought Ben REALLY did break the sweet spot .. I guess he fooled me -- I thought he was going to develop the anti-grav device for the car using this principle ... maybe he will in a few years with some more brainstorming! Now to practicing and fooling around with this very cool gimmick! This WILL fry a spectator's brain! |

Guys,
I'm so glad that they are arriving, AT LAST! Please do go to the blog and download the new "additional instructions" these you will find to be of assistance as you "master" the force. So happy you are enjoying. Glad you are reading the book. I thought it was an interesting little story. It was also a place to formally credit Patrick and Dan. Cheers Ben
