I mention it in the blog today but it was quite inspiring...
I was at the Disneyland Magic Shop and as usual all the boys were grouped around my friend David's S.S. Adams display of jokes and Joy Buzzers etc. A little (and I mean little) girl came in...maybe she was 8 or 9...I didn't see her parents...she looked in the 'serious' case...asked for a Haunted Key demo. Seemed to dismiss it...then asked if they had Sponge Balls, (she didn't need instructions!) she got those and asked for The Haunted Key. Paid her money and left. Now that was cool. Meanwhile the little boys were after those Snake Cans! haha.

Makes you wonder what she's going to do with that key and how here boy friends will react to the sponge balls.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I'm suprised that the Disneyland shop actually had such advanced props as sponge balls and haunted keys.

Payne. They are slowly going back to 'real' stuff from a period of Whoopie Cushions and Rubber Dog Poop...Most all the trick 'Decks' and Packets are available and many other packaged tricks at good prices too. Somebody 'upstairs' is taking an interest I hear.
Jonathan...uh...never mind...no comment

That is great. The last few years that I went to Disneyland the magic shop was nothing more then a wall of gags and stuff. It is good to hear they well have the magic back. It was always nice to stop in there in the past... it will be again

I bought my very first Invisible Deck at the Disneyland Main Street Magic Shop in 1966--I was ten years old. I still have it.
Thank for triggering that memory. |

I wish I could work at Disneyland. I don't know what they pay, but it ain't about the money. I would want to work there no matter what. Magic Shop, Security, street sweeper, I wouldn't care a bit. I would love that.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

Yeah...well...Knott's is on a fast track downward to obnoxious teen heaven, trying to take over from punk ride north, Magic Mountain. Even the old Ghost Town is being dismantled bit by bit and theming and flavor is disappearing regularly. Very sad. We get to go free every year as November is veterans month but we don't bother anymore. They are having to discount the discounts to get anybody there that doesn't make gang signs. The new owners just didn't 'get it'. Meanwhile Disney is increasing it's family appeal and you can hardly move through the crowds. Knott's used to compete pretty well as a 2nd ticket for vacationers as well as locals. Oh well.
