I'm looking forward to getting this
when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth

The spectator cannot hold the receptacle. It is horrifyingly obvious at a close range. FLOW can be done in the spectators hands with them staring down the mouth of the bottle. When the effect is over, there is nothing to find. The spectator can examine bottle, water on the street, and your pockets if they really want to. Seriously, there is absolutely no comparison whatsoever. |

This sounds really good. I may have to take the "plunge" on this and order!

Ok, so I know I’m a little late to the game but I finally picked up FLOW and here is my review:
Packaging: While not the most important part of the purchase, it is nice to open the mail and find an attractively packaged DVD. The text on the back not only gives a description of the effect but also provides WARNINGs. I was pleasantly surprised to find the DVD itself wrapped in its own sheath to keep it from getting scratched as DVD’s inevitably pop loose in transit. And lastly, on the inside of the case was a sticker with all the information for the bonus effects. 10/10 Performances: I’m not a big fan of Dan Hauss’ performances but he did an adequate job of showing what the effect was capable of. 7/10 Explanation: Dan did a great job of explaining the effect and I liked how he “explained it to Hannah.” He went step by step and was very detailed in the explanation. Additionally, I like how he included the FAQ section and recapped everything at the end. 9/10 Bonuses Effects: I wish the bonus effects would have been included on the DVD, but you instead have to log into a website with a password that is provided. However, it’s well worth it. I love the coin through bottle effects that are included. While I’ve never been a big fan of the snow effect, Dan has come up with a great idea for it. 8/10 Overall: I am very impressed with this trick. I did some searching for the gimmicks at area stores but had no luck, however, the Astonishment Project sells them as such a reasonable price, it’s really a non-issue. While, this effect isn’t impromptu, it’s really close. I walked out to the garage to get a bottle of water (out of the beverage refrigerator) at my cousin’s house last night and walked back in 20 seconds later with my bottle prepped and then performed the effect. He loved it. We keep bottled water in the fridge at work so almost everyone in the office has a bottle on their desk throughout the day. Someone walked in my office and asked me to ‘show them something.’ I pretended to caught off guard with nothing to do and then handed them the bottle and said “Well, let me try something with this.” It killed. I was a little concerned at first with it being marketed on Ellusionist, but as Jason has stated before, it’s still a really limited number of people who buy magic. Overall I think this is a great trick and a fair price when you factor in the bonuses effects. So, if you were like me and on the fence about this once, go ahead and give it a try. 9/10 I hope this review was helpful. |

I have been working with FLOW for a couple of weeks and enjoy it. It has a huge impact on spectators. There is a new development that has me concerned. Both grocery stores where I buy bottled water (Kroger and Safeway) have changed the design of the store brand bottles. The neck of the bottle is now about half as deep as the old style was. I have not been able to get the gimmick to work with this new bottle style. Anyone else dealt with this? I know that I can use other brands, but can't help but wondering if this is a material (plastic) saving trend. Are all bottlers going to go this route?

Which has little to do with the strength of the gimmick. So there is a good chance this would work. I'm inclined to give it a try when I get home from out of town. Giving this more thought now along the scientific reasoning (air pressure) why this might work as opposed to actually acting as a "cork", I am going to attempt to use this method on something with a lot larger mouth like a glass of water. I think it would work just fine. |

I have this already and as far as I can tell at the moment, it has little to do with the strength of the "film" I will call it. And more to do with just being in place. Much like how the cellophane science demonstration turned magic trick version of this worked.

With that said, it's strength does allow for it to be handled freely without letting the water drop out.
But like I said, when I am back home this week, I'll verify how exactly this works, as well as see what other containers I can apply this to. |

Well this is not a really what you are thinking it is It is EXACTLY what I thought it was. I have worked this with 2L bottles. 4L milk jug. Wide-mouth Gatorade bottles. A regular drinking glass, and a very wide (3" opening) plastic drinking cup. With that said, any WIDE opening that isn't deep is going to be a pain to set up. More-so if you want your liquid high up (full). Especially as these things are not perfectly spherical. Easy way around that (unless half-full is fine for you) is to not make your thing inside, but rather outside and lay it on. And try very carefully to tear the top half off, without it pulling completely from the sides afterwards. Plastic seems to work better than glass for this. But it is very difficult none-the-less. I wasted quite a bit of my tube in trying to get the glass and cup gimmicked. Gatorade was hard enough with it being full. Just waiting for the chance to grab an empty water-cooler bottle but at this point I am expecting it to work perfectly. |

As a rule, I try not to post a comment unless I have had enough time to give an effect a try. That being said, I did want to mention that I think "Flow" is a step forward in the "Electrostatic Glass" genre.
This could easily performed as a magic effect or a mind over matter demonstration. In other words, a magician or some mentalists could probably find room for this in their performing repertoire. Since I perform metal bending, I will probably will not amend my set of effects to include this (I think one effect per "theme" is more than enough). That said, I have bought expensive apparatus to work on performing this type of effect and I prefer this. Simple, clean looking and amazing. In short, this is a fantastic effect and a workable method. If someone is inclined to perform the suspended liquid effect, this is certainly worth the small price to educate yourself on this option. Hats off for this release! Sean |

Many magicians spend a short amount of time practicing and then show someone only to mess up. Even with "simple" tricks. In regards to Flow, how comfortable are you guys using the method? I used it once and put it away. Same as Ultra Smoke 2000, not worth the risk to me.

I haven't had any trouble using this method yet. I do sometimes have to try the "setup" a few times before I get it right. Additionally, I do the set up not long before performing the effect (within an hour).
On a side note, not that anyone has ever noticed, but I played around with putting a little dab of glue on the cap and ring to make it look like it was still sealed and had the spectator take the top off. Again, no one had ever noticed that it wasn't sealed but this makes it look even better, to me anyway. DVLKCC, if you were asking specifically about the 'snow' effect, sorry, I haven't tried that. |
