Hi All, just received this:

"Hello Todd,

I am Renee and I am James Tong's personal business assistant.

Thank you for your concern and we really appreciate it.

James is still recovering in a hill resort for herbal treatments after a
long while of medical treatments. His weak lungs are recovering but not at
the speed we are expecting. Occasionally he comes back for a day and then
goes back for his treatment again. Even now he is still coughing.

He did talk about how he misses magic and the group at the magic Café.
Unfortunately the place he is at do not have Internet connection - which is
why he cannot contact anyone. His current concern is the hospitalization and
treatment bills and charges - which is very huge and keeps accumulating. He
hopes to be able to sell some of the crafted balls and items to pay off his
bills when he comes back home permanently. Currently he cannot perform as he
is very unfit for showbiz - so his only source of income would be through
the sales of his crafted items.

Todd, I will inform James that you made contact and also how he is missed by
the group at the magic Café.

All of us over here misses him too.

Thanks again for making contact.

Magically Yours

Renee"

what can we do to help out guys?

Todd,
what can we do? We can pull together and do as much as possible. We did it for Dean, people offered to help me if I needed it. James is no exception, we're all family.

Anything I can do to help I will be more than happy to.

Ok, I start the ball rolling: I donate one set of Johnny Paul Cups ($200) and one set of the colored Indian Cups ($100) and one copy of the Ramsay Cups and Balls booklet ($20). Each set of cups comes with my book on the subject.

How to we structure the payment? You can send to me via Paypal at petebiro@aol.com

and specify "for James" then I need to know how to get the funds to him.

I hope he gets well, soon.

I don't know what the diagnosis is, so I'm not in a position to make suggestions. However, with my asthma and occasional bronchitis, my doctor has been amazed by the treatment protocols that I developed. They work extremely well for me, but require that you become an expert on treating the condition.

Here is a new message from Renee w/ an issue someone may be able to help out with. Thanks for the Address Bill!

"Hello Todd,

I am so happy to hear that many people are having prayers for him. His self-less character is getting him lots of prayers and well wishes from here too.

Currently I am handling all communications for James. If you need any other information I would be happy to provide too, if I am able to. Thank you for offering to help, Todd.

James' only hope now is to be able to get more people interested in his crafted balls and magic items so he can pay off the huge medical expenses he is so worried about. His misfortune, being infected during one of his performances out of town, has created a very big financial strain for him and his family. He was so stressed up and coughing badly when he last came back for just one day.

He is also worried that paypal payments for the sale of his items cannot be of help as Malaysian Paypal accounts cannot withdraw cash into bank accounts. Without the withdrawal of cash, he would not be able to utilize the sales revenue to pay his hospital bills.

Here's the address you requested, Todd,

Thank you, Todd for the kind words. I believe James need those encouraging words too.

I would be glad to offer any other information. Contact me anytime you wish to.

Magically Yours

Renee"

There is a way around this. Paypal can be contacted and a trust account set up, at least you could do this in the past, the last time I saw it done was 3 years ago. The trustee of the account then could have the withdrawl sent as a bank draft to the person the money was funded for. Paypal is very helpful with any questions people have. A US check could also be issued to the trustee and he/she could foward the bank draft to James so he could place it in his bank account.

All of us here are praying for him and wish him nothing but a full healthy recovery.

Here (Australia) I use Netbanking to transfer amounts to my daughter who is living in Asia. It's quite cheap here: $24 Australian for any amount up to $5000. If we could get his bank details it would seem to be easy enough to just transfer the $$ directly.

Paypal is sometimes very difficult to do in countries where they don't have a big presence. If he presently doesn't have an active account, the process of setting it up may be too difficult for him at the moment.

There is a different problem in the States. In the US, the cost of sending an electronic payment overseas is rather high, compared to other countries. An electronic transfer to Germany, for example costs about $40 to $60.00. And if the exact transfer details are not provided and the transfer fails, the bank may charge a fee for attempting a transfer.

However, there is another option that will work. Travelex (formerly Thomas Cook) has bank accounts in almost every country in the world. They can write a bank check in local currency on a local bank and this can be sent to the person handling James' account. It is much less expensive for all concerned. There would be no fee to James for the transaction, since the bank would be a local one and the payment would be in local currency. The fee for these checks is quite modest. The last one I sent went to London and was only a few dollars.
