I really think we should consider FISM being in the same month. This is the only thing that would hinder my attendance. I am sure there will be others who would choose FISM. I know Bill said he prefers an email as far as the cupscon is concerned....but for the record...Bill's attendance/participation is one of my top reasons to be there. I know I am just one of the cuppers here and I live in a far away island....but I will do all I can to help make the cupscon work. Just for the record....I have no problems having a mascot and I do appreciate the efforts in making it fun and memorable. I would like to suggest considering a new date ( after the FISM )and perhaps talk about the possible lecturers, speakers, etc.... Best from Manila, Rannie

My attendance at this event is a non-issue. I have officially severed my ties with CupsCon2009.

I've since learned that 2009 is also the last year for Magic Live! just a few weeks later. Considering FISM on one side and Magic Live! on the other, I'm open to restarting with a new date. I'll see you guys over at http://www.cupscon.com (which BTW was designed as a planning group specifically for discussions such as this)

May be the cheapest thing to do is attach our cups con to Fism. A side order in a nearby hotel. We could gain that way ,in terms of numbers. As for a mascot I'm with bill on that one. A logo will suffice. If you have to have a logo have an ant as that will be very cheap.

For a mascot, put me down for a suffocated chick (baby chicken). This will not distract by its pesky pecking nor scratching, and it will hark back to those glorious days when they were legitimate final loads, and to those hilarious moments when the act really died, ("Eh!, buy the kid some candy and get over it. What am I, Merlin?!")
I'm sure you could turn up a gross of Pretend Chicks with their eyes X'd out and their little feet flopping about ("Oh, Look! He's O.K.") and hand these out, one to each attendee as proof that they made it to the convention, and back. Just send me a picture of the man with a push broom full of them on the morning after. Anyone "Down" with that? P (no wait I got another ten minutes on this) |

I think Bill should be the mascot with that cup hat.
There was a time I had the blues,
the reason was I had no shoes. Until I met upon the street a man who had no feet. |

I think we gave up on the "mascot" idea, settling on making a logo instead of a guy in an animal suit.

I can tell you all that the Mascot Idea got blown out of proportion more than I wanted it to do.
The idea was to add something to the logo a person so to say. I did not like the idea of a cup or cups being the logo for CupsCon. It would be like saying that this one cup is the backbone of all the cups. Who am I to say what cup to go with. That were the question of a mascot poped into my head. I just wanted to get some ideas about a logo add on. I also wanted to know if it was needed at all. That is why I opened the door to the fans of cups as to what was needed. Well what a mess of worms that turned out to be. Everything got mixed up and people got the wrong Idea of the concept and I lost site of my dream for a time. About that time when Magic live announced that their con dates were close to the ones we had picked we had no choice to back burner it to 2010. I also discover that it was going to take more people to pull this off than I thought I was going to need. I was asking too much of the people I had on the team. That is when I started looking for people to help make the dream come to life for 2010. So, as for the logo / mascot idea. I have killed it and I am going to go with my font logo I designed. So, the dream lives on with the help of a few good people. All of you can help keep the fire burning at CupsCon.com the home to the Cups And Balls Fans. I welcome everyone to drop me a line if you have questions about CupsCon. Either here or the CupsCon.com web site. Have a great cupping day. Sean |
