Hi,
I am a newbie to The Magic Café. I guess I should have checked ALL of the forums first before submitting my last post.
I am not a magician, but I build mechanical effects (a version of Antonio Diavolo, Houdins Orange Tree, etc).
I am hoping to chat with others who are involved in this area of magic.
I would love to see pics of anyones work. If you would like to see a bit of mine, my Antonio Diavolo is posted on Youtube. Here is his link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44UBXBlGmik
I have a website that has a couple of other pieces on it. I am not very clever on the computer, so my website leaves much to be desired, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. It is http://www.clockworkuniverse.net
Hope to hear from you!

Wow, you do fantastic work! Although I've made two all-metal automatons, of the crank variety, your clock-spring pieces are far beyond my abilities, and I know of few others who post here who can compare. I'll send you a message on your web site with a few pics. I've made Hoffman's Demon Head, Okito's Appearing Jumbo Card, a reversed version of Thayer's Diminishing Ball (using a big iris diaphragm, etc. but nothing like your mechanics. Welcome to the Café!

Veegates,

Wow! Thank you for posting your website and the YouTube video. It's such a pleasure to see this sort of work--the 19th century is my favorite era in magic history. Any chance that you'll put more of your creations on YouTube? I'd very much enjoy seeing them in action!

cheers,

Lin

p.s. Mr. Fiscus, I'd love to see pics of your work too.

Thanks to all for the positive words about my acrobat. I wondered how well an effect from the 1840's would be accepted today.
I agree with Lin, I also am a huge fan of 19th century magic.
Also, Mr Fiscus, I can't wait to see your work.

Wonderful work.
On a tangent, sculptor Thomas Kuntz is also involved in crafting intricate automata.

Automaton is certainly magic! Houdin himself made automaton. Fine work Bravo.
