When one influences you the most? Hundy 500 was always over Slo Burn. But I think Heiny 500 got more votes over Hundy 500. Extreme Burn is good, but to me Heiny 500 is in the lead.

If you could see R. Paul Wilson's handling of the original Pat Page version you wouldn't mess with any of the more complex setups like all those mentioned above.

I agree. My vote is for the orginal version. I use different color bills from Mexico and Guatemala. I change them to a variety of US bills (2-tens, 1-one, 1-five, 1-twenty, etc.)
Most magicians give the newer versions more votes. Does Paul Wilson have the old version on DVD anywhere? And Pete, I am glad to see you are doing better my friend. |

My favorite is the Underground change on Extreme Burn. I snap my fingers in front of the currency as they change. Beautiful.

I've got/done the list of em, and for me, it's still Heiny. Slow, light touch handling, no flips or quick moves....

I agree with daver, I love Heiny, it flows and looks great. However, I think that if at the end of the routine, you substitute the Underground Change from Extreme Burn for the final change on Heiny it would be great. Each of these has a great deal to offer, and you have to find what you like.
When I watched Extreme Burn, it seemed to me to be more of a collection of moves for people who already knew the effect, while Heiny was a polished routine. I think Heiny is a great full routine, and Extreme Burn gave some really good change ideas. The biggest issue with all of the different changes is that people have to keep in mind, there are only 2 Changes in the routine (at least normally). So knowing 9 different changes is cool, but deciding which changes will fit your style/routine is key.

I wonder if Heiny 500 will work with Canadian currency.
We don't have dollar bills, only $5,$10,$20,$50 and $100. Each have a different color. Any information? TrickyRicky |

Although I have Heiny 500, I just obtained Extreme Burn and have began working on it. Thus far, I have to give my vote to Extreme Burn. I do though, have a question about making the Gaff that I will post in Secret Sessions.

Just looked at Heiny 500 and although it has been 2 years since I saw Slow Burn I thought it was the same setup. Aren't the two bills put together the same way in the gimick?

You guys in the USA have got a distinct advantage over us in the UK.
You can play around with a one dollar bill which is worth about 50 pence to us. Our lowest paper money is a £5 note (about $10) which makes performing Slow Burn cost £25 to set up (about $50). I love the effect and, after reading what some of you are saying about the updated version, I'm tempted to invest some more. The problem with having 25 quid in my pocket that I need to present the effect is that I keep spending the *** trick ! |

I use the extreme burn gimmick. I change the new 5's to the new 50's. The patter is have you seen the new 5's, very colorful [show them front and back] but did you know this about them [do the change] show 50's front and back . I have had very good responses with these denominations.
This past weekend I made up a set with 1's and m****de bills. I pattered about how mixed up the U.S. economy was. I got this idea from another Café member. People are very surprised at this change.

Very cool effect...
Im studying the hundy, heiny, slow, and extreme. One of the ideas I had was to apply it to things other than money. Imagine the patter of telling someone how you went on a trip - showing them a series of maps of various locations... then complaining how every where you went, you got speeding tickets... doing the change and showing the tickets.. or possibly travel photos... granted the paper is not as tolerating as currency cotton paper... but I believe it has merit enough to toy with the idea... Has anyone else applied this outside of currency?

Actually, the Hundy 500 seems to get a better response. I think because with Extreme Burn the only possible solution is close to the actual one, whereas with Hundy 500 the spectator imagines perhaps something up the sleeve or a switch.

My vote goes to Extreme Burn. And, no sleight of hand involved. This is a magician's dream.

I have had so much fun with Heiny 500. I especially love it when I say, "If you were a magician and you had a stack of dollar bills, what would you do with them?" On a regular basis, the answer is: "Turn them into 100s!" What a lead in to the change! I should receive my Extreme Burn this week from MJM. The impact of Heiny 500 has been so great I thought I owed it to myself to see what the newest version is all about. Should know in a few days if it's worth the change.
Posted: Aug 10, 2008 5:59pm I got my Extreme Burn the other day. It's the BOMB! As much as I love Heiney, it will now be the second string player. The Gravity Change performed slowly is my favorite switch. Pure magic!

The thing is...because of the setup...you could pretty much use ANY of the handlings if you have Extreme Burn. You can do all of the flashy changes with the gimmick...perhaps a few others...and you can also use Gregory Wilson's handling if you so desired, or Heiny's. And with the "way" you construct the gimmick...you could even REMOVE Extreme's gimmick. I am being very bland here as to not spark any sort of exposure...
The other thing also...which is nice about Hundy 500, is if you forgot your gimmick, all you need to do is head to Walgreens, Walmart, or any place to hit up the ATM and pick up your "gimmick." |
