Well….. it appeared to be a really fine concept and a pretty ring!
We all know that many magic effects are wildly overpriced, and that catalogue and web descriptions are often overblown, and I don’t often get stung…. but I recently got stung. “Heart String” by Paul Romhany sounded like a perfect fit for me, I asked the dealer if the metal heart “ring” looked like the DVD cover (an obvious assumption) and he said it was “exact” so I sent away for it. This set sells for about $50 with shipping all told…. not really cheap. The outfit arrived with a shoelace, and a ring that was just plain tacky. My outrage grew when last week I found the exact heart-rings in a craft-store for 79 cents each!!! The DVD is acceptable, and the routine as presented just OK, but the hype of the description was not fulfilled, it’s not meaningful magic…. and the props were embarrassing in their poor and sloppy quality. What a shame that an unusual ring-on-string concept, was so poorly realized, marketed, and then overpriced! The “basic concept” is good enough that I may just re-write the presentation, re-work the routine, and have a professional-quality ring made for it. Even after thirty-plus years of learning “buyer-beware” in magic, it’s possible to get stung if you don’t have the props in your hands…. ANOTHER reason to shop at brick-and-mortar stores, and only buy from extremely reliable dealers you know personally. My two-cents, Walt |

Thanks Walt:
This is the kind of info we need. There's a lot of poor workmanship in this business. Jim |

I am always skeptical of buying products from people who seem to have a new product out each month. i.e Jay Sankey, Paul Romahany

I think the dealer also has some responsiblity here, since he too, embelished the product.
You have already mentioned the creator, who is the dealer? |

Try the routine with the props supplied and I'll think you'll be surprised at the great reactions.
I've been using this for years and it's a staple of my close-up act. |

The materials supplied are so cheap and tacky looking
I wouldn’t consider using them in my act, and the routine is inferior to many others I have worked with, there is no possible reason to perform this version as sold, which as I said is a shame as the theme has potential if the product were rethought and redone. Magically, Walt |
