Hello all. I just have a quick question. I was going to order in the trenches by paul green, however I found on penguin magic you can order it as a download. I would like to watch it tonight, however it says in the description that the ordered dvd comes with a gimmick. now I am not asking to expose but as far as the jepordy trick, if I buy the download is it something I can make or do I need to order the dvd? thanks you all. your always very helpful.

It's basically a piece of paper with some stuff printed on it. You can make it if you have a printer.

If you are new to magic, be careful. Paul expects that you know your stuff.

That DVD is great. It does have a gimmick ( a piece of paper ) that has some revalations on it. You use it in conjunction with the effect. Cause of the way its folded I highly doubt you'll be able to reproduce it without having one to look at or copy. You could make one on your PC If you look at how he performs it and then just type it up and get the folds right but why go thru all the trouble???? If you download it you lose out on 1 effect. Hope that helps

May I also add that if you do an instant download, you're restricted to 3 (I believe) computers. That means in a few years when you've upgraded your PCs and forgot to deactivate it from the old ones, you'll be up the creek without a paddle. I personally buy DVDs so I have the hard copy. I then back it up and use the 'copied' version so I don't ruin or scratch the original. I've also converted some to MP4 for use on my iPod or Zune - which is nice when the wife is driving and I need to go over something a few times.

I also say get the DVD.
I really like the Cut & Restored Rope routine leading into the Professor's Nightmare. This is one of my favorite instructional DVD's in my not too small collection. Iven

Great dvd, like others have said the gimmick is just a printed double sided piece of paper. It is the best routine on the dvd though, imo.

Buy the DVD. You get the gimmick and you should receive your order in a few days.

I think way too much importance is given to the "gimmick". There are many other ways to name the chosen card and after watching the video, the gimmick should be easy enough to make.
Personaly I would get the DVD because it is fully indexed and it is just a matter of seconds to get to a particular point of interest (not sure of the quality or indexing of a download). You also get much more in value than what the DVD costs, so I say spend a little because you will get so much. Iven
