Man, what a super nice guy.
He was doing a show and lecture at La Rock's Magic shop in Charlotte, NC on Sunday. I was fortunate enough to decide to go. What a treat it was. Now I get to brag. He told me that my riffle force was "better than 95% of the magician's I've ever seen do it." So I felt pretty good about that. I was very impressed with his topit concept and my start incorporating that into my routines. If you ever get a chance to see him live I would highly recommend it. |

I had the chance to meet him at a convention last year. It was great. I really liked his topit ideas too

Hi,
I met him when he was here for the SAM Lecture tour, he and his wife are great! After getting his topit tapes two years ago, I have been working with the topit since. As a side note: For some interesting ideas on the topit check out John Cornelius's new book. Mark

Yep, I got nothing but nice things to say about him. I agree his topit work is amazing. I had never seen a topit in action before this, and it made my jaw drop.

The closest I've come to Michael Ammar is some autographed copies of MAJ I got second hand. Envy you guys who have got to see him.
Oh well maybe one day he'll come out to Australia to lecture. BIlly |

I agree 100%. He did a lecture in the uk in blackpool. Did his card on ceiling justice by putting it 40ft in the air on a very high ceiling. He repeated it throughout the weekend so there were about 7 cards on the ceiling. Don't envy the guy that had to pick them off.

I attended his lecture here in Michigan, and he did his Shadow Coins. What a great effect.

Sybilmagic,
I was at blackpool this year. Those cards are still on the ceiling. People were continually pointing and looking up at them all weekend. Unfortunately I wasn't at Blackpool when Michael was. (So I missed Juan as well. Shame.)

Hello,
I was fortunate to see Mr. Ammar at a lecture he did in the New York Metro area about three years ago. Hands down one of the best lectures I've seen and I've been going to these things for the past 35 years. He and his wife seem to be very nice people as well. Ciao, Vincent |

Wow 40 feet, that's 12,192 metres. How is it possible to keep the deck straight so high?

umm Jonatan, 40 feet is 480 inches or about 1056 cm, so its about 10 meters, not 12,192 meters.

r4bid, you are wrong as well. The correct anwser is 12,192 millimeters or 12.192 meters, but who's counting?

I did some pretty heavy rounding and just did it in my head Mark.
Anyway back to the thread topic... |

card on celling is described in "Encore 3". The way it is done makes it very easy to do, even when the ceiling is high.

I met Michael Ammar when he both performed and lectured last night in Nashua, New Hampshire.
He is a fantastic magician and lecturer. He doesn’t just perform astonishing tricks he also entertains. He doesn’t just lecture; he entertains and teaches the fine points of the psychology of an illusion. He is a great listener too. When he took questions, he really took the time to understand the questioner's perspective, and he made them feel good about asking the question, regardless of the level of understanding implied by what was asked. He and his wife Hannah are wonderful people. They were courteous and kind. His performance blew me away, even for the illusions that I already knew. He is that good. Plus his comic timing is great. Many times during both the performance, and the lecture afterwards, he had everyone laughing out loud. If you have to drive an hour to see him perform, do it. It is well worth it. I can tell you that all of his videos and books that I have purchased are great! I have never seen a bad review of his material, and I have looked on the internet for reviews many times. Obviously, some of his videos are for beginners, but even those are very well put together, both displaying clarity, and depth of knowledge. Often, just learning the right way to think about an illusion can be a huge asset when performing, and Michael Ammar communicates this type of knowledge in his books, videos, and lectures. From his extraordinary ability, I can see why he won so many awards. Here is a list of some of his awards:
He also was selected to perform for the U.S. Presidential inauguration in 1992. This has to be one of the most impressive performance resumes in all of magic history.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.
