I suppose I know a couple but I never practice them so they would actually be more difficult for me to perform than an effect I've been doing for years with more difficult slights. For the most part, once you've done a trick 1000 times, it's basically a "self-worker" anyway. bite the bullet. join the crowd.

(no particular ranking/order)
1. Card in Hand (Effect where a 'locator' card unexpectedly and magically changes in the spectator's hand to his selected chosen card while attempting to use the 'locator' card to jab into a deck of cards that the magician is riffling in an attempt to find his selected card). 2. Prohibition 3. Twisted Sisters 4. Strange Travelers 5. Scotch and Soda 6. Sponge ball routine 7. Loops 8. Ring and Rope Routine 9. Pen through dollar bill 10. Floating Bill Gregory Wilson's Quicksilver is also good. Vanishing scarf and vanishing cigarette is another hit. Doing Scotch and Soda, Cig through quarter then vanishing the cig after lighting it up is another great routine to consider for outside entertainment where some of the cig smokers sit. So many strong effects. Card College's Thot Echo is good to use in place of Twisted Sisters to involve two spectators sitting at the table in a single card effect/trick.

Most of the good stuff has been mentioned. But the best and most consistently strong reactions I get are from.
Metal bending (Fork or Spoon) Bill to marker (this is a great way to close) Vanishing borrowed ring to lippincott box (as a magician this is so simple but, laymen love it) |

I get strong reactions from Stranger's Gallery. I have modified it though and perform it somewhat differently from the way I have seen others perform it.

Doctored Dealey (John Bannon)
Invisible deck Crossroad (Tony Chris) Metamorphosis pro (card shark) Tool (David Stone) Creepy Crawlers (Jay Sankey) Cataclysm (Brian Caswell) Gambler Static Prediction player All these are easy to do and have a really strong impact on the audience. I love to perform some more complicated routines, without gimmicks, but I must admit that most of the time they are less impressive. |
