I try not to talk about myself much, but I need to this time. Tonight, I dislocated my left shoulder sitting on a wet flat ground, slipping in a puddle. I visited urgent care who couldn't do anything but x-ray it and let me know for sure it was out of socket. I was shipped over to ER and was very fidgety trying to get comfortable by leaning differently and even bending over at the waist. Somehow, I managed to pop back in later x-rays would show. I ended up going home in a sling to help heal it. I need prayer for recovery as I will have visits to ortho and therapy. I am going to have to miss out on magic for a couple weeks as well as altering my job at the waterpark here in Tampa. Thanks guys for reading!

Matt, please take the weekend to relax. I've done those kind of injuries, and relaxation techniques, along with God's help have been the way to recovery. You are in my prayers.

We will lift you up in prayer, just relax , rest the shoulder... and do as your doctor advises.

You would of been better off breaking it.(less pain) I have experienced what it's like to pop out a shoulder, and then have it pop back in again. Pain doesn't do justice to describe what it felt like.Lol
I totally sympathise with you and will keeep you in my prayers. If you are booked for therapy, I highly recommend that you go. These kind of injuries can have future consequences if not properly looked after. I never received therapy and years later I had problems with my shoulder again. I had damaged muscle tissue that was now interferring with a nerve that ran down my left side of the body. I was in a lot of pain because of that. When I finally made it to the doctor's I was told that they would need to perform surgery to cut out the damaged muscle tissue.

Wow, that's really a bummer but may it heal up quickly and allow you the freedom of movement that you had before! It was not that long ago that I was completely out of commission with sort of similar symptoms that were caused from a pinched nerve in my neck. That crazy thing caused terrible pain in my right arm from my shoulder down to my wrist. I was out of it from December until into February this year. My fingers are still numb and tingly but that is the only left over symptom. The PT folks were miracle workers though (well practically). Anyways God bless you, Matt and I will pray for you as well.

Since laughter is good medicine, let me share this little story with you Matt.
When I was in the Army, stationed in Germany, we were out in the field doing training one winter and a few of the guys decided it would be fun to wrestle on a patch of frozen ground. Of course, it soon got out of hand and one doofus decided to body slam another guy into the ground. We all heard him yell and he stood up cursing and complaining that his shoulder was dislocated "again." The fact that he said "again" should have told us he knew what he was talking about, but since he had on his cold weather jacket we really couldn't see the injury. My Sergeant was skeptical, "I don't know, are you sure? I just don't see it," he said, poking at his shoulder through the coat. His cries of pain told us something was definitely amiss under the jacket. Our Sarge had him take his jacket off to get a better look. All our jaws dropped when we saw his shoulder abruptly ended at his collar bone and his arm was dangling about midway down to his waist. I'd never seen an injury so bizarre. Blood and open wounds I can deal with, but limbs in different locations under the skin are another realm entirely. "I guess you're right," Our Sergeant agreed, dumbfounded. Guess he should have believed him before poking at it through his coat! My friend needed surgery. It was his second dislocation of the same shoulder and they needed to remove scar tissue like GospelDan. Just be sure to follow all the doctor's orders; I'm sure you'll heal quickly with all these prayers going out for you. Hope you see the humor in this! I'll pray for you right now brother. Get well soon!

I have a question, because I've never quite understood it. And actually, let me throw out this disclaimer first: I don't mean to offend anyone, I think I may have made Steve Brooks mad because of another post I submitted. If this post upsets anyone or it's too out of line, please delete it and accept my apologies. With that being said, the question:
When a Christian is injured, like in Matt's case, why do you need to see the doctor if you are praying for your recovery? And/or why do you need to pray if you are going to the doctor? I've never heard an explanation that really satisfied my curiosity. I just wonder what the prayer is for. For example, if an Atheist has the same shoulder injury won't he heal without the help of prayer? In the same amount of time? Is the reason for prayer so your God will intervene in our daily life and heal you faster than he would a non-believer? More importantly, if your God does regularly intervene in our daily lives, why were you even injured in the first place? Again, I apologize if I offend anyone. That isn't my intention. I really am curious. To be honest, I have a head full of questions. I just saw this post and thought someone may have an answer. I am becoming more and more curious about religion and it's draw and if being a Christian really helps you heal faster, then that is a huge selling point. Thank you all in advance for your time.

"Heavens",
True Christianity doesn't need a "selling point". True Christians live their lives in such a way that people see them and want what they have. Let's say you have gone without food for several days or weeks, and you come upon someone who has a nice, hot, juicy hamburger. Oh, wait! He has two of them! And it's obvious he's not going to eat one of them! Do you want what he has badly enough to ask him to share one with you? That being said, prayer is not "begging for stuff" from God. Prayer is just the way we communicate with God. Done properly and with the right relationship, it is like carrying on a conversation with your best friend. You can probably share things with your best friend that you would never share with your brother, sister, mom, or dad. Prayer can be as simple as "Hey, God... it's me... again, and I'm in trouble... again..." Or "Hey God... Thanks for getting me through a rough time today." It can also be as complex as "God, there's something wrong with me, and I don't know what it is. I only know that I need your help to know what to do." When Christians pray, we do so believing that God will provide an answer. The answer could be "Yes". It could be "No." Or, it could be "Wait." I believe, as do most Christians I know, that God has provided doctors with the abilities to promote healing. I also believe that God can, and does, provide healing on His own. I have friends who were given days or weeks to live many years ago, and are now completely cured, through nothing the doctors did. I think this is less apparent today than it was in the first century, because we need to have an explanation for everything, and we are seldom willing to "pray, and get out of the way". I believe that God can and does speed healing in many cases, although we will never know for sure in this life. I also believe that God intervenes in the lives of believers and unbelievers alike. There are stories in the Bible where a believer prayed for a nonbeliever who was healed and began to trust God. If I am ever ill, critically or otherwise, I want as many "prayer warriors" as possible praying for me. During those times when I feel separated from God, I know certain people are "standing next to God", spiritually speaking, and I know that they will talk to Him on my behalf. It sounds like you are searching. I will pray that you will find someone (or that someone finds you) and you will be able to get some answers to your larger questions.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Heaven to...,
Don't fret, you didn't upset Steve Brooks. He and I are good friends and he was simply stating that there weren't any official organizations related to groups you were referring to. As to your question related to prayer, I'd offer the following old story told to me several years ago. A man is going to down a river and his boat capsizes. He's heading toward a water fall and certain death. I helicopter approaches him from overhead and a ladder is dropped in an attempt to save the man. He yells up to the pilot, "Don't worry, God will save me". A couple of seconds later a boat comes up and tries to save him. The man yells, "Go away, God will save me". A little later a man on shore tosses the drifter a lifesaver. The man ignores the attempt and yells, "God will save me". At that very second, he drops over the water fall and is killed instantly. At St. Peter's Gate, the man sees God and asks, "Why didn't you save me? I prayed to you the whole time!" God answers, "What do you mean, I sent you a helicopter, a boat, and a lifesaver and you ignored every attempt I made".
Coram Deo
