I agree with most of it but I like "unforgetable" tables. I like the old school classy tables. If I'm a "class act" why would I have "just a road case" sitting in the center of my stage all night. I find it tacky.

I always liked the look of the Gig Rig by Sparks. Very expensive but beautiful piece of kit. Never found anyone on the Café to put forward a review of it

Here is what I have been using as a table for a while now
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=31353&doy=9m6 It's cheap, folds down small and strong enough to hold whatever I need it to. It does need the lip bending back, but once a cloth is over it, it looks great. I've never been one for having a big box as my table, I think they can look suspect, much prefer something with legs, but that is just my opinion. |

Yes, being lightweight and portable are necessary options.
However, your performance style, artistic and aesthetic integrity, are also crucial to building your reputation and branding. A table which fits your personality, magic, and style is as, or more, important than just the get-on and get-off and travel aspects. If you search the Café you'll find my detailed opinions and suggestions on this topic. Magically, Walt |

Agreed. Some tables look nice but do not suit one's show personality and character. There are also many that are not practical for certain performing venues.

I had seen an article online, though I can’t locate it now, which suggested using a separate side table on which the magic actually happens. The side table could be lightweight and be carried inside of the larger case. I am a fan of the large case that allows your entire show (depending on the type of show you have) to be carried in at once. |

A few of my magic buddies put a velvet cover over their suitcase table.
So have a gold stripe around the top area. Some are Lefler cases some are not. Anyway it looks great.

I have the Joe Leffler’s “Pro Suitcase Tables” - the larger one. It is hands down the best case you can imagine. The storage at the bottom is great for audio gear. The shelves are great for all of the 'packs flat' plays big props....mine has the coloring book, stage sized calculator, dream bag, etc.
When the table is open, I have a custom made skirt that wraps around the entire table with some elastic. I can complete surround the table with the fabric (during setup and tear down) or I can keep it open to take out and ditch props. The top is great for close up effects, and its on wheels, making it very easy to move while performing or during transport. Like the post at the top of the page says within the link...if you have nothing, get one! Mike |

I have posted this information before, but would like to post it again under this thread. The Harnel Case Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan, makes custom made cases very reasonably to your exact dimensions. http://www.harnelcase.com MagicBob designed (just ask for the "MagicBob" magic travel case) a case that is very lightweight, yet sturdy, and is UNDER the exact dimensions allowed by the airlines for one suitcase. So it is easy to stay under the 50 pound maximum. The case is designed to do an entire program out of- and it can be placed on a simple folding table or over the backs of two chairs. See MagicBob's demo of this case at http://www.magicbob.org/RogerCase.wmv I use this case now and just love it. The case costs about $296 plus shipping. I use my MagicBob case with several Instands http://www.instand.com

Jared.....
We have a Horbourgieight here in Tucson, AZ. I have one of each case they sell. Prices are cheap. And magicians can never have enought cases.
