Is there a classic balloon animal design that you absolutely hate?
I've always thought the old "parrot in a swing" was just an ugly design. Even when done perfectly, it doesn't really look much like a parrot to me. |

Poodles and swords
actually anything simple and basic that kids DEMAND... LOL... Thanks to Jimmy Leo the other night I was working a large event with HUNDREDS of Kids and one kid asked me for a DOG (and he wanted the simple 3 twist dog) and I made him a Lion mask out of MANY balloons... the whole time he kept asking me what I was making ... and my answer was "The dog that you asked for" at the end... I put it on his head.. and said "WHALLA this is the LION Mask and we call it (DOG)" the parents cracked up and the kid loved it...
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite

All of the simple ones above. However, I can take their request, and either do something like what Mike did, or... make whatever they asked for much fancier than they thought it would be. Here ya go, kid, a dog that looks like one on TV, but I haven't a CLUE who it is...; yuk, yuk, yuk. Or a sword with a 360, and a swirled 260 for the handle. They work better, too, since they don't bend as much when the child is whacking dad on the head.

I am sarcastic as heck when I work. I a kin myself as the Dennis Miller of balloons. When a kid asks for a dog I look at them dead on and say: "Is that all you can think of Or is that what you think I can make?
Hate list: Bicycle "Oh yeah I saw that movie.... or your Mom let you watch that????" Sword "No swords, guns or nuclear weapons .... the Moms dig it" Especially the MILMABHF's Poodle "I hate poodles ..... so much I make them behind my back!" Then do it. Porcupine Do I need to explain? Anything riding a motorcycle Greedy little bastigde, they think they are smart. My line works great though. "I can make anything within taste and reason .... that is a diorama not a thing!"

I hate dogs and swords, although I will now do a 2 balloon sword that looks better than the average sword.
I cant remember the last 1 balloon dog I made. I must have only made 1 in about 5 years. Brett

Really not a Scrooge, but candy canes. Never happy with the crook and too big for the guests to carry easily. No problem with multiple Rudolph's and blizzards of snow people, but hate candy canes. Oh, and wreaths with bows.

Mostly I also do not let the children choose. Everyone is equal, everyone gets a balloon surprise.... |

China did not get that type of show. Know your audience and adapt. I save my bravado for an audience that will appreciate it. Memorable quotes from movie "Road House" (1989) Dalton: I want you to be nice until it's time to not be nice.

The heart is so easy to make and requested a bit too much, so it seems a bit insulting to people who've done it for years
