I have just picked up a set of 12" linking rings and am playing with them recently, and I am looking for some good gospel patter/message to go with them. I remember I have seen some posts on the similar topics before but I saw only names of tricks or ideas were being mentioned. I am looking for a bit more details on the patter, I don't need a full essay but a brief summary would be nice. And I don't mind if the message is for 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 rings. Anything is good. Much appreciated.

Just some idea's to get your creative juices flowing.
You could use three rings to talk about the Trinity. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You can also use the rings(as many as you like) to talk about unity in the church. We are all seperate but link together as one body in Christ. Sorry for not giving you patter but I'm sure you can come up with some.

Good point. My set of 8 rings has been gathering dust for over 10 years. I used them a couple of times for secular shows, but have never found a good gospel application. Having said that, there are plenty of times I have used an effect in a gospel show just for entertainment, and to show that I don't do the impossible, just that which "seems" impossible. Funny, as I write this my kids are watching a video of "Mr Impossible!"
I like the trinity application, I usually use the linking ropes for this. However, I love to see a gospel application which uses all 8 rings. I'm thinking of the Body of Christ. Any thoughts? If this has been answered in the past, please let me know, as I am new to this forum.

I brougth this up in another thread but nobody commented on it so I'll bring it up again here:
Is it really necessary for every effect in our act to have a gospel application? I mean, if we're using magic for the purpose of evangelism, must every component of our show include patter that's relavent to the gospel? I ask that rehtorically because I think the answer is no. I will usually include 1 or 2 effects that very clearly communiate a biblical truth but the rest of show is just a magic show. I just take advantage of a captive audience to slip in the gospel. If I'm doing a childs birthday party or something, I always ask the parents if they mind if I do that. If it's somebody from church they always say it would be fine. Any way, I haven't really heard anyone else on this board talk about this approach and was wondering what other opinions my be held. Thanks, Greg.

Greg,
As I mentioned in my previous post, I use effects in my gospel shows "Just for Entertainment" Duane Laflin mentions this in his "Art of Gospel Magic." He calls it the "Spirituality of Entertainment." You need effects that earn your right to be heard by the audience. That's great that you give Gospel messges at birthday parties. As you said, a captive audience. I have been out of birthday parties for about 8 years now, but used to do at least one gospel effect if the parents agreed.
