PRINCE,
A force is not considered magicians choice. Do you really think after all that is done, all the last facedown cards left are the same? |

Guys there are still ways for spectators to have a "free choice" of a bunch of different cards and methods to arrive at a card that you want them to arrive at. Do the math here, the inventor has already publicly stated that it is the same card everytime unless you purchase two of them.

I am still interested in reconciling the "no fxxxx" claim in the advertisement with the statement on this board that one is required.

The ad states that there is "no equivoque or magician's choice". It doesn't say "no force".

Just watched the video. Sure enough, it says, "No Force" when the card is selected.

I guess it depends on your definition of a force. I think the video text takes advantage of the term "no force".A spectator may have a free choice from the group that remains, which appear all different but that does not eliminate other methods beyond the choice to arrive at a desired card. I do not want to say more and provide possible methods to the trick.
I guess what I am saying is if the end result is you have achieved a method to display a card that you desired to have picked no matter how fair the selection process is in my mind that still constitutes a force. I am not questioning the fairness of the selection as the method I have in mind allows me to do the exact same process and STILL arrive at the card I need to arrive at. In this case the match to the jumbo card. I like the effect created here but I think there is some liberties taken in the grey area which defines a force. Purist will say a force is when a spectator is manipulated in someway to chose a predetermind card. This is not the case here but it does not rule out the spectators perception of the choice and what the true result of that choice is.Hate to speak in fragments here but I am trying to respect our exposure rules . |

Thank you magico, if some of you had care to have read my post properly then you would have noticed I did mention the comments on the vid demo! We all know what force really means and what magicians choice means etc. in my opinion a force and magicians choice are 2 different things. When either are in play, they look totally different - even though the result may end up the same, the look of how they got to the card is different.
You cant say that a force and magicians choice are the same, and for a trick to be advertised excluding those techniques is fine. But when someone comes on here and says that there is a fxxxx - then that's wrong if there is a fxxxx and the trick advertised to say not. |

ALCON,
From another thread and this should end all questions regarding if there is a force or not, right? JSBLOOM, Without revealing anything I can safely say the effect could not be accomplished with one of those special decks for less than $10, without severe limitations and a very high risk of exposure. If you'd like to discuss the possibilities feel free to PM me and I will divulge what I can. To answer your other question, the answer is, no...but the card they choose is the card you use...there is no switch. Hope this helps and I'm glad you love the routine. The beautiful thing about Smart !@# is the complete freedom you have as a performer, in actual performance. They toss stuff around and you still come out on top. A bullet-proof card force. On the DVD I give ideas on how to perform with 'less mess' using things to have the participant throw the cards into, etc. The performance 'live' is the same as the performance in the clip (you can't slow down time of course, like we've done when the participant throws the cards!) but everything you see, is what you can actually do. I received Smart Ass over the weekend, and it's a completely customizable effect. It can go in so many different directions. I spent a few hours coming up with different ways of presenting the effect. Bill and Anthony give you complete scripts to start with, but I think they are just scratching the surface. You can really have a lot of fun brainstorming routines. It made for a great Father's Day, spending quality time with my son, coming up with creative ideas using Smart Ass.
Thanks Bill & Anthony... Ken |

This is why I hardly ever post here…bickering over the small stuff….look….as much as we all would love to be able to buy real magic powers (for only 60 bucks) how else would you expect to ensure that the participant chooses the same card as the one he’s sitting on?
IMO no body is trying to rip anyone else off with false advertising. It does NOT employ a classic force or a force in most classic examples or any linguistic manipulation. There is only ONE thing you need to do and I personally can’t even label that a “move”. Bill’s deck is wonderful. The included scripts should only be a starting point; a place to launch smart-ass into your presentational style. You want a custom script written just for your style….pay the man 10 times more! From the real world…this past weekend I performed with the smart-ass deck for a group of 200 people. The presentation was quite different from what comes with the deck…the effect on the audience…..we had people standing, applauding in shocked surprise…and that was only our second routine of a very successful night. IMO… If you are not a performer…don’t buy this…it won’t make you one… If you have no skills in audience control…don’t buy this…offer the 60 bucks to a theatre coach to teach you a few things… From my perspective the secret to this deck is worth more than the asking price and I take umbrage with Bill for letting it go so cheap; the beauty of it will not be appreciated by many who “play” with it. However, I’m happy to give it a solid 9! Best thoughts, BlackSalt |

This trick rocks...If you choose not to buy smart*** then you must be a dumb***!
JUST KIDDING FRIENDS! ;-) Not all tricks are right for all people...but what I like most about this is that you can create just about ANY type of routine you can think of. Sure it comes with several presentations...but you are not limited to them. Also, they don't have to sit on the prediction card...it can be inside a balloon...or in the want ads of a newspaper...the possibilities are literally endless! So what is this? Well basically the smartass deck allows for a VERY convincing card force. Sure you could do this same basic trick with a riffle force...but it would not have the same "feel" or be as impressive. Bill has turned a mundane card sleight into a FUN and VISUAL "piece of theatre". The throwing of the cards during the selection procedure is what makes this trick so powerful. This is a quality prop that is sure to get the creative juices flowing...I have already written a routine that is just as funny as my "sweet dreams" routine...with these two effects in my stand up show I can't imagine there being a dry seat in the house! Thanks for sharing this Mr. Abbott! Cody S. Fisher

This is a great effect, if you are left handed you might have to change how you do one or two things. But it is well worth the money, I just wish I would of thought of it.
