Not sure where I learned this as a kid. Don't even know whose trick it is. I remembered it and performed it at a recent session. Did it at work last night as well. If anyone knows whose trick it is, let me know.

The video wouldn't play on my computer. Did he, at least, do it well? If not, he can see it performed by me on one of my DVDs. HL

It is always good when it is learned from you Harry Lorayne, "probably the Best EVER teacher with close-up card magic."

I think I did learn it from Mr. Lorayne. I lived in NYC in 1983. I had dropped out of high school in Cincinnati and moved to Manhattan to Street Perform on the Upper West Side's, Columbus Ave.
I used to hang out at Ruben's Deli on Saturday afternoons where Mr. Loyayne was a regular. Always a treat to sit and watch as he held court. Thanks for the memories. TF |

Mr. Lorayne, YOU ROCK!!! Thanks for always being friendly to a punk kid busker. You, Sol Stone, Ken Krenzel, MIke Gallo, Geoff Latta, Meir Yedid, those were the days!
Your contributions to the art significant and undeniable! |

It's also in Simon Lovell's Close Up Magic to Tapdance to.
Simon Lovell says that he learned it from Ken Brooke. It's an effect that I always feel uncomfortable performing - it seems "obvious". But that's a comment on me, I hasten to add, not a comment on the effect. It gets great reactions. Dave

Dave: Are you sure? Sure that Simon is teaching my impromptu card linking thing? Without credit to me? I honestly doubt it - and from Ken Brooke? Please. The concept wasn't around then. Something wrong here. HL

Harry and I have had a private conversation with regards to this effect. Without going over the whole thing I'll just say that I was mis-led all those years ago and am now happy to apologize to Harry for my mistake. It's his and, as with most of his stuff, is a ***ed good effect!
Thanks Harry and I'm so very glad to set the record straight here! As internet people often say, "You Da Man!!!" Love, Simon |

I thought that I'd invented Simon Lovell. But Ken Brooke told me that actually he'd invented him.
Anyway, glad that it's sorted. Dave

Always one of my favorite impromptu card effects. Bev Bergeron has a great routine built around Harrys effect. Tom, great video, the only suggestion I have is to not put such large bends in the two cards. I always thought that telegraphed the method.

Alton: The "really linked" thing (Don England's) was, is, originally taught in the same book as my original impromptu Linking Card. Go to Linking Card Addenda in QUANTUM LEAPS, and there it is - way back in 1978/79. HARRY LORAYNE.
