Anyone got this 3 DVD set about hold out magic. I found it on Vernet web site http://www.vernetmagic.com but it looks like no magic shop has it yet. There is also a trailer on Youtube.

I have seen Michael Vernet perform live with the Holdout twice. He really works magic with it and is flawless--no awkward moves or wrist breaking. On the lecture tour he sold a very inexpensive holdout which was good to start with but I have since upgraded to the Antonio Romereo holdout The Romereo holdout is more expensive but easier to use. Can't afford the Fitch/Kohler system.
I am so impressed with Vernet's use of the holdout that I'll spring for these DVD's just to see the many routines that Michael is performing. I must tell you I was quite disappointed with the DVD that came out last year by Alan Greenberg called "Hold Out Miracles." There was some very awkward moves that sent out the "tell" signal in too many of his routines. These DVDs (as a pkg of 3) will probably be expensive and use of the holdout is kind of a cyclic thing. I use it for a while, drop it, and then pick it back up when I see a way to use it to to really enhance some routine I'm working on. My recommendation is to wait for some reviews. I'll be glad to review them as soon as they become available and I can view them.

I heard Michel's lecture on the holdout was wonderful.

I saw Vernet's holdout lecture about 8 years ago. He vanished a handkerchief about 10 times in a row with a room full of magicians burning him. It was one of the most amazing bits of magic you will see. Then he managed to better that by doing the best cut and restored rope that all of us had ever seen. He did that several times, each more unbelievable than the last. Although the holdout was inexpensive, you will be able to do miracles.

Michel speaks English just fine. Their wholesale site is:
http://www.vernetmagic.com/ The phone number is on their site. 54 221 425-1989 I've had an Invisible Hand for some time. I did NOT see them on the Vernet site. The Mystic Craig Videos have a bunch of Jack Miller's work on them. If you are in search of HO stuff - Todd Karr is selling them. |

Hi!
Yes. This is one wonderfull DVDs set. And for magicians what want to read in spanish, subtitle in spanish, one great gift. (Why L&L can not include subtitle in spanish in your dvds?) Michel is one magical person and have a lot of year studing and collector of the device Hold Out. You can see in action the Jack Miller´s Hold Out. Include 30 effects with the device. Ball, cards, Silks, in close up, stage mentalism. The Silk Story is my prefered. The Invisible Hand DVDs Set is available directly from Vernet, NOW. Coming soon in magic stores. For contact to Michel you can mail directly to michel@vernetmagic.com Ricardo Difeo ![]()

I found this message on Genii forum.
"Jon Racherbaumer: The 3 DVD set on THE INVISIBLE HAND by Vernet is pure gold. Michel is the king of the Hold Out. I spent lots of time with Michel in Argentina last May. Anyone wanted to do real magic while standing should master this stuff. You will not be disappointed. Your audiences will be thrilled." |

I havent had a chance to see the Vernet dvd´s yet as well, but I heard great things about the holdout and I have the manuscript on it. There seems to be a wave of holdout stuff coming to market these days and the problem with most, in my opinion, is that the holdout is used as main method in most cases. I don't really like this approach. Hold-out is a secret tool, like topit or sleeving and I am afraid that same thing will happen to it: Too many magicians start using one badly and way too much. Its much better in my opinion to use holdout to clean up and get gimmicks in and out of play, instead of using it for pure vanishes and so on, and therefore putting unnnessesary heat on the possibility, that sleeves might have something to do with the effects the people are seeing. I personally use holdout 3 times in whole 35min stand-up act in totally different routines. My prefered choise is still Romeros one due to the advantages I explained in my review of it, elsewhere at the Café. Juha-Matti |

Hi everybody,
I've been working with Michel in the production of the DVDs and I can say that they are terrific. He has put his life into the Invisible Hand and one can feel this even through the screen. The best thing of all is his love and respect for magic and magician. He is for me and for almost everyone in my country, one of the finest magicians. He is a true professional and because of that more of the routines described in the DVDs will be extremely useful for everyone. They are extremely didactic. But having being involved in the project I shouldn-t express opinion...However, I will say that I share the opinion of the great Gaetan Bloom: "I just hope everybody will appreciate the amount of love and respect you have put in this masterpiece... ....All the methods you use to attach the different "tools" during the presentation of each trick are so diabolically clever and practical....At every moment, "this sacro saint " misdirection is the key word, and used to perfection.... " Thanks, |
