This set of DVD's is absolutely incredible! The material is fantastic and the production values are phenomenal. I've had the pleasure of having Michel lecture at our home twice on the holdout and this set of disks surpasses anything I've seen him do in the past. If you have any desire whatsoever to do holdout work, buy this immediately. If you've never considered doing holdout work, you should buy it anyway...you will not believe the range of material you can do with this amazing tool.

I have ordered it and will post my review soon after I receive it.

Marc I have a question for you.
Did you perform on Wonderful World of Magic in 70ies. I would say you did but I lost in fire all those videos in 90ies when my home was blown away during war time in former Yugoslavia.

best,
Bojan

Indeed, I am considering the purchase, but should I purchase a particular holdout at the same time?

This dvd set uses a Jack Miller style gravity holdout. If the Gecko is of that type (I don't know, I heard about them from you), then yes. Otherwise no, not really.

Gecko is most definately not a gravity holdout.

If you want to see new aplications with the Hold Out you can see the demo video in http://www.themagicworkshop.com is with the perfect hold out. You can see a hold out working like a raben or a bat or a PK ring, all with a Hold Out. And if you want to see the sistem click in the PH plus

He has his own holdout that he calls the Invisible Hand which is a modified basic Miller Holdout. Since his website has a button called "Invisible Hand Devices" which when clicked says "Coming Soon" it would be my guess that they will be selling the holdouts used on the DVDS.

Speaking of which, does anyone know where to buy the DVDs in the US yet?

I have the original "Invisible Hand" book that they put out, but I have not yet seen the DVD. The Romero holdout uses a magnet at it's business end. The Invisible Hand like the original Miller uses a clip to grip objects or accessories. The book uses these various accessories and the DVD I presume does as well, so insomuch as you need to use the various accessories clipped into the holdout, you cannot do all the same stuff with just a magnet.

I think that you can do more things wiyh a magnet. The phylosophy of use a magnet is that is more easy and fast to attach a object in this way, You only need to add something with metal to the object that put differents grips to the hold out depending of the obbject that will use. If you want to see the quickness of use a magnet on the hold out, see the demo in http://www.themagicworkshop.com

I am not addressing the usefulness or the benefits of using the magnet - I happen think the magnet is a superb idea as is in many ways better than a clip. I am just pointing out that Vernet is using various ends clipped to the holdout to do what he is doing, not just a magnet, that's all.

As an example, a silk vanish with a fishing line loop needs a fishing line loop end. Either clipped to a clip, or adhered to a magnet, you need "something extra" than just a magnet or a clip.
