Which book do you think is better and why? "The Secret Ways Of Al Baker" or "Roy Benson By Starlight". I believe both books were about the same cost and both books are a huge tomb. Thanks in advance.

I prefer the Benson book leaps and bounds in front of the Baker book. They are both great for reading. The Baker book is a better book for the amount of tricks and methods. The Benson book deals more with presentation than the Baker book. I preferred the writing style of the book as well as the layout. Granted the Baker book was mostly a compilation of Al Baker's own books, so it all depends on what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

"Benson By Starlight" hands down. The best book I read in many, many years.
I probably wont perform any of the effects in it, but its a sheer joy to read and re-read. The editing and writing is top notch. A book HIGHLY recomended if you can get hold of a copy.

I think the question here is which one of the two to choose.

I would choose the Al Baker book. Nothing at all against Roy Benson! A legend! But for what I do, I have found more in the mammoth tome of the Baker book. But, BOTH are great investments. Do you want a Lamboghini or a Mazzerati?

It depends whether you are into Mentalism, Magic or both. If you like Mentalism, then I would purchase the "The Secret Ways Of Al Baker" book first and then buy "Roy Benson By Starlight." If you prefer Magic, then I would purchase the "Roy Benson By Starlight" book first and then buy "The Secret Ways Of Al Baker." Purchase one and then buy the other. Eventually buy both books because you will read and use both of them.

I think it really depends on what you want to read about. I own both books and they are both fantastic regarding content and production quality. The Al Baker books contains far more effects than the Roy Benson book. But in my opinion you can learn a lot more about the person Roy Benson and how to perform for audiences than in the Al Baker book. So for me, be Roy Benson book would be the way to go if I had to pick one, but:
(1) it is a very close decision and (2) I, for myself, couldn´t make the decision and therefore bought both.... Carsten
