It arrived here last Tuesday at about 10 a.m., and it's already been used in front of 6 audiences. Today will be the output test indoors in front of close to 500 people in a library show setting.

Used the large battery pack in today's show, and it works like a charm.

It went VERY well. LOUD enough by far for the 500 people in the one room. Don't know what photos the newspaper guy (reporter and photog) got, but if there are some action shots of the entire show area, you'll see the Soundbox over to my right!

Well, as was mentioned in other threads, I did get to "test drive" an MP3 Tech and something called "The Performer" manufactured by a guy in Nashville. It was an Apple laptop-based system. I also used a ShowTech for over 10 years. After that, and NINE months of deliberation, I made my decision based on features and simplicity of setup and use. I am biased towards this product and brand, or I would've purchased something else.

No statement that I've made concerning any product was exaggerated or false.

What's the big deal? There is all kinds of 'biased' remarks and posts made on the Café, in every department. Even in this F/X area I have read many postings that seem to be and probably are biased. Remarks on the Peavy Escort system, the Fender Passport, etc... By far the most biased remarks have come from ww MP3 supporters. That is their opinion and I have no problem with any of it. It is up to the reader to figure out what is best for his or her needs.

Steve,

I was thinking of getting a VSM largely because I like the all in one nature of it but I’ve seen too many red flags raised and until I see them get their act together based on more positive feedback, I’m going to have to hold off.
I think you would have to agree that they’ve made a lot of promises that they weren’t able to keep.

Also, you stated that you got the deluxe, high=powered model. If I remember right, their website used to show two available models but not it is only showing one. No way to know which one I would be purchasing from their website. From what I can tell, the description doesn’t give dimensions for the box or for the speakers. Since they’ve shipped your unit, I don’t know why they wouldn’t be able to update the website now with the latest picture unless yours isn’t necessarily the final model.

Their website also says that the unit is compatible with 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation ipods but I received an email from Patti offering me a unit recently that stated that they are still working on the firmware to support ipods later than 1st and 2nd generation. To me, this means they are still making claims that aren’t true.

Steve is one of about half a dozen sellers and buyer here in the Café "for sale" forum who has absolutely the highest credentials with other buyers and sellers.

He is considered one of the premier buyers and sellers, with a number of folks who will (without prodding) offer their OWN personal word regarding Steve's absolute honesty to others who may be considering buying or selling here on the Café for the first time.

To question his honesty here, without evidence, and without real reason is disingenuous, and makes those doing it look less than honorable themselves.

Steve has done NOTHING to make him appear anything less than truthful. Choosing not to send out a .jpg photo to people who are DEMANDING that he send them one isn't any indication of anything other than Steve isn't inclined to have an agenda dictated to him by others.

The new iCue2 Soundbox PA has the miCue built in, and has some decidedly different features from the standard iCue2. I wanted my FF and RR (track forward and track back) buttons reversed, and it was as simple as pressing and holding one button while pressing and releasing another.

Knowing Kelly & Patti I can tell you they are working to correct some of the problems VSM has encountered. A lot of 3rd party "Techies" are involved as well as Sony so be patient. Whenever you work with others sometimes you are at their mercy. You get the rebuff because most people want things yesterday. Before attacking Kelly or Patti try talking to them sanely. Business owners have problems with suppliers and employees. It happens! So's life. It's not a perfect world.

I'm not the only Café member to have received his iCue2 Soundbox PA. At least one other member has his in his hands, as well. If he/she feels like letting the world know, then he/she will.

Yes , I have my soundbox. I have rehearsed with it this week and it looks like Kelly has hit a home run on this one. I traded in my boom box which I never liked. I had to be so concerned with the sound system that I didn't do a good magic show. the new Sounbox pa seems to be state of the art. I was dissappointed that it was advertised in January but wasn't ready to go. I like others gor impatient waiting. I am a pro and need a sound system I could depend on. This new unit will be tested on my outdoor bi-centenial show July 5th. The numbers in the audience is suppose to be about 500. I will let you know the results, but in my barn the new unit out performs anything I have ever owned. Don't have battery pack yet--Terry Harris

Can you compare the Volume to another sound system as a reference. What sound system have you owned?

What are the Chances that all of you re read DAN's post???? It is starting to get to the point whenever I see a post with VSM or any remote system I don't want to read it. Everyone uses a different system NO need to shove info down at someone when it is been diccussed time and time again.

I am very happy with my 8 track player. yes it old but it works.

Yes, Ken you're right we should reread Dan's post. As far as 'everyone uses a different system', no need for further discussion on this subject, I disagree. For years I have been using my own wireless mike but have been dependent on different public address systems, many of which have been nothing but trouble. I have finally decided to buy my own. Partly because of the different opinions I have read here on the Café I think I have finally made an educated choice as to which system best suits my needs.

Wandboy that is great that you are getting info about what system to buy however everything that is talked about has been talked about on so many different posts. you could do a search and find everything you would want to know.

Glad to hear that you have found something!

At least 2 of us have, indeed, purchased and gotten our iCue2 Soundbox PA systems from Virtual Soundman. If you think you might be interested in one of these or the original iCue2 systems, don't hesitate to PM me, since I have and use both. I am a former Wireless Wizardry "ShowTech" user, just so everyone knows that I do know about both companies and systems. I also had the luck to be able to "testdrive" a "Performer" system from Jason Litchford in Nashville. I spent 9 months researching and testing systems to discover which would serve my particular needs best.

Well I said I would report on the soundbox after I used it in a show. July 5th was a bicentenial festival. I followed 3 bands and only had 5 minutes to set the show. I quickly decided this was no place to test a new system. It was 54 feet to the front row and had 250 people out doors with amusement rides making noise. I decided not to use the soundbox. BUT on the next night I did an alumni banquet with 250. I had plenty of time to set up and test the sound. I got many compliments as to how clear the sound was. I think Kelly has a winner here-Terry

So how easy is it to "add" another larger speaker to the VSM Soundbox PA if it weren't enough for a larger outdoor audience? Would you need an amp?

Also, on the website it says it's not quite ready. Any "insider" information on an ETA?

There have been a lot of negative posts about the VSM company on different threads, but I still feel that this is the best complete system that will do what I want to do. My only concern is the PA; is it big enough to put out big sound?

Also, this may not be the right place to ask this, but I just purchased the iPhone 3G. Do you think this would be compatible with the VSM when they do finally "update" the technology? I also own a 30G iPod (4th or 5th gen?).

Have the problems with Soundbox delivery been cleared up? Also, I don't understand the pricing. It says they start at $699... Do you get what you need for it to function for $699?

Thanks,

Todd
