Has anybody bought Dean Dill's "Explosion"? I would really like to hear about the effect and if it is as good as the ad copy says it is. Also what amount of skill does it take to pull it off.

Hocus Pocus does have a video demo showing half the production on their website. I believe the demo only shows the first 9 coins being produced. Would have been nice if the demo showed the full 16 coin production.

I don't think a coin trick is worth a 1000 bucks. Especially if the gimmicks can't be used in other ways. I would like to know how "limitless" the gimmicks are.

Rick, To use a tired quote, I think the gimmicks would be limited only to your imagination. I can assure you that these are very versatile and given time to play around with them, you could do some rather smashing effects. As far as value, even if the gimmicks could do ONLY this one effect, it would be WELL worth it. Many, many years ago, I was lucky enough to see Dean perform this effect in the back room of a little magic shop in Simi Valley Ca. I was so blown away I simply was speachless. THIS is the type of Magic we hope for and Dean delivers. If you add up the money spent on junk effects, over all the years, you will find it rather easy to spend $1000 collectivley. Maybe it is best to save your money and wait for something like this that will blow people away for years to come. One more point, you pay for the RIGHTS to perform his Signature effect as well as all the R&D which went into creating the effect and of course the Great Quality Gimmicks. This has to be taken into consideration when you judge an effect.
Good luck, Chance Wolf

It is one of the most beautiful and magical-looking coin effects I've ever seen. Give me the thousand bucks and I'll be happy to purchase and review it for you.

The first demo they had up on hocus-pocus was called explosion. Now they have the ultimate explosion up.They are both two seperate effects. The nine coin one is on one of his videos. The nine coin production for me I think is a little more difficult than the sixteen coin.I remember the first time I seen Ultimate explosion I was totally blown to pieces! When I found out how much it was I was like how am I going to get a thousand dollars,I was never like "I would never pay a thousand dollars for a coin trick".If you could see this with your own eyes its the most amazing coin trick you'll see!

I just watched the demo, and I think it looks beautiful, and the music makes it more beautiful. If I could afford it, I would buy it now, and I agree, people would remember this forever.

Rich, what you said was not stupid at all. When you think about it, a thousand dollars is a crazy amount to spend on a coin trick. I would never spend that amount of money on any trick. I'm not wealthy, do not make my living from magic, and I have other interests toward which my income goes. But for a professional magician, who may have the money, and would perform this effect nightly, it's a sound investment. So it's really all relative.

I saw a friend do this trick and it kills.
He did it at The Workshop convention for a room full of magicians and needless to say you could hear a pin drop. This is the perfect coin effect. But it has to be up your ally. I can't stop to think what the limits are on this trick. The most beautiful coin effect out. As soon as i get the cash, i am ordering it. Amazing trick Brad

Yes, I believe you could do amazing effects with the gaffs like killer versions of 3-Fly.

It's very expensive... but can you even think of 1 single coin trick is as strong as it?

Indeed a thousand dollars is insane to spend on a coin-trick.
I did spend those thousand dollars. Not in a coin-trick though. I spend them on a vision of a theatrical close-up presentation that had been in my head for 3 years. If you can not change your perception on jewels like this don't even consider buying it. Same counts for U3F. Or a lot of Lassen gaffs. Or a Thomas Wayne wand. Maybe we should not ask ourself if we CAN buy something, but more WHY WE SHOULD buy something. If money is no issue and you want to buy a thousand-dollar-coin-trick, it is wasted anyway. On the other end asking if "this gaff" has limitless use just proves how unmagical your thinking and attitude has become. The downside of the here-and-now culture that is the internet. I'm sorry, you asked for a review: It is the most magical looking thing created with coins. Show me one person who has seen it done before his eyes and was not deeply moved...

$1,000.00 ????
For the working professional? If Close up is your business, and how you make your living, spend the money and do the best effect around. What if you were hired for the white house? You can't work in high places if you don't have the tools. If you don't have the tools you will never be asked. Think about that. If you are just plain broke, get Reed's Coin Ovations DVD and do the 13 coin matrix. For a working pro, consider it at $10 a night for 100 nights, so paid off in maby less than a year?

Hey enthusiasts, are you kidding. Can you think of one coin trick as effective, was a question. Yes, any and all of David Roths favourite routines will kill anyone and for years, till tiped, they killed magicians. Derek Dingle's work with coins is incredible,. Kenner's orignal 3 Fly by sleight of hand "killed" most magicians (not me) Dean Dill himself gets at least as much magic out of his sleight of hand material. Geoffrey Latta? Gary Kurtz (almost pure sleights) does a several minutes complete act. Literature and early Religion had their "Holy Grail"; I guess magic looks for its own Holygrail s. Always, a single great shot, a knock outpunch.(mixing my metaphors) What, routines wont do it?

$1000?!?!?! That's crazy talk. I saw the demo, and I agree it is beautiful as well as magical, but that's a lot of money. Especially considering that the nine coin version was given to Harry Lorayne for Apocalypse. I forget the volume, but it's in there. You can buy an Apocalypse volume for one tenth of the price, get Dean's effect, and about 600 other itmes. Just my $1,000...er I mean .02 cents.
