Magically, I've been challenged so much recently. I put together a high school Talent Show performance under strict conditions (2 days before the show, I found out they changed their minds; so no fire and no needle through arm). A week after that was my first full evening stage show. An hour of magic, the longest I had ever been on stage. We did all the advertising, choreography, and scripting; and it was a giant success.
Now ladies and gentleman, for my greatest challenge of all. Getting a job this summer as a table hopper. If anybody has any advice for me, or anybody else interested in applying for this kind of job, please post it here. The reason why I'm turning to the bizzarist's realm is because I want to do bizarre restaurant magic. I don't want to take a really long time explaining some story; but I would like to elevate my magic over "watch the salt vanish". The mentalism is bizarre enough (pk spoons and time) but any advice on making salt vanish with a TT or the twisting arm illusion? Jonathan

Salt Vanish? Hmmm, I like to use the TT (or two, or three) with salt appearing; along with the story of the fisherman and the salt grinder. (Old Ukraine or Russian tale, I forget which). It explains how the seas became salty; the fisherman uses magic fish and does not wait for all the instructions. The old fisherman-his wife never satisfied- bids him to fish harder for their-her-fortune! He catches the magic salmon, it grants him a wish. Salt is expensive, and a sign of money (in the olden days). So he asks-at the wife's urging- for a salt grinder. It is granted. The wife asks the fish how to make it work, and immediately eats the fish after it tells how to start the salt flow. No word to shut it off though, so soon the house, and lands are filled with salt...it keeps flowing forth! In a panic, the husband dumps it into the sea, where to this day it continues to make salt........
Though, on the realm of the work you seek, I would take a look at the theme or style of the restaraunt you will be working in. Twist stuff to that end. Or, work up the local urban legends. There is of course the ubiquitous hook on the car door; (can you make a hook appear on someone's table edge, or an unused roll?Tthe "Lady in White" prom queen tragedy story, make a white rose-corsage flower appear, or her name on a note...center tear type thing? Etc, etc). Sounds like you are up to the task though, best of luck!
