My oldest dove is having problems with it's sight. I've noticed that in one eye there is a white spot on it's pupil. It has been there for a couple of months but it didn't seem to affect it's normal activites. On Sunday it started to turn it's head almost upside down to look around. Today the good eye looked like it was swollen shut. I took it out of the cage and held it and petted it for a while and it did open the good eye but didn't leave it open. After placing him back in the cage he just sat really low to the ground and held it's head side ways. Does anyone know if it is too late to help this dove or what I should do other than taking it to the vet today? Are there comon diseases that affect doves eyes? Any information would be appreciated.

This is a situation best handled by a vet. Make sure you see an avian vet or one that specializes in birds. A regular vet is not trained to handle birds.
Doves can only see out of one eye at a time so if one of it's eyes has an infection and the other is swollen closed, it won't be able to see at all.

The dove is blind in that cloudy( Caderact) or perhaps it got scratched, eye and will probaly lose all sight, just love it pray for it, seperate it from the rest and pet it (poor little birdie) make it comfortable knowing something is there. A vet cant do anything for it, he will sugest either expensive surgery that will end up not working or euthinizing the poor creature.I have seen dove live a long life blind in one eye du eto an accident. Just love it and let it be the retired performer, but do not exclude it from you love and I can tell you have not.
Bless you. My picture say "New user" however I am far from new to magic.
