My fish and chips were only average, sad to say, but my initial impressions of the ebook are very good.
The things I like so far, and I haven't had the time to go through everything in detail, is that there is a very nice range of things on offer here, with a good balance of different types of effect. To my mind, collaborative ventures succeed for one of two reasons - the first is where the editor has a very strong direction in which he / she wants to take things, selects contributions carefully to suit that, and then gives the entire publication a clear unity of purpose, eg Steve Beam's "Semi-Automatic" books. Alternatively, as is the case here, the individual contributions are under a more of a general umbrella, and they are given a bit more rein to have their own flavours. This range means and that perhaps there will be something for everyone but not everyone will go for every trick, and that readers are each likely to have their own particular favourites. I don't think this is a bad thing, and I thought that the different approaches of the different contributors means that there is a lot to be gleaned from the focus they give to their thoughts - a good way to get your contact details handed over here, a nice rethinking of a mathematical approach there, and so on. Anyway, from my looking through it so far, it seems like a good purchase, and I'm looking forward to going back through it in more detail. |

Does anyone know anything about one of the contributors called Andrew Brown?
His routining is just genius. He has turned the cut deeper force into a thing of beauty. Does he have other material in the market? |

Just printed off this book..
Not gonna have time to read it until after the Grand Prix tomorrow, but I did read Marc Paul's impromptu Serial Number Devination and 'wow' what a fantsatic routine. Just like his AAA book test, Phone Mystery & brilliant True lies this is worth the price alone.. What a steal... |

Hi Andi (Peters)
I have corresponded with Andrew Brwon for about a year now. He has excellent ideas - has tackled 51 Faces North and CAAM and ACAAN, Diary trick, etc. I think he's on the Café, but you can Email him via the address in the ebook. I'm sure he will be happy to hear from you. Peter

From my first complete read-through, this is really very good. The initial standout item for me is Andrew Brown's 'Clairvoyant Card'. Punchy, clear, very elegant.
But there are many other items included in the texts that I'm looking forward to now going back and re-reading. This is definitely worth the money to me. |

Received it two days ago. So far I read 5 or 6 effects that I found interesting when reading the description in the content listing. The material I read so far is very good.

Is this stuff "new" ideas, or old routines re-worked with some new twists and plots?

This is the quantity * quality bargain of the year. Pretty much every routine in it is first rate. Personally I was most pleased with the Knight Tour and its combination with a semi-magic square. That routine alone could have been sold individually for the price of the entire ebook. (It made me think about releasing my own work on the Knight Tour - still contemplating) With 56 other effects in it one does not need to be a rocket scientist to figure out the kind of bargain this is.
Peter, what kind of bribe did you offer the authors to share some of their top material? Also available from the Lybrary http://www.lybrary.com/mind-blasters-p-1094.html

I got this and I must admit, it is a real bargin.
There is a litte to much card stuff for my liking. Not that I don't like cards in mentalism, I do, but a lot of the card effects are the kind of 'mental' card effects that I don't like. However having siad that, a few of the card rotuines are very good and just the kind I do like. There is SUCH a large and different amount of effects in this book, you really can't loose.

I'd like to thank those who have privately praised my Con-flatulation effect featured in Mindblasters.
I'm glad that you are enjoying it. If you haven't bought this ebook yet, it is simply packed with fantastic routines! You can order it from myself info@abracadaver.co.uk (I'll answer any payment questions) or you can order from any other contributor. Have fun with it, maybe I'll see you reading another of my effect soon..... |

And a very hearty thank you to all the contributors and to Mr Duffie from across the pond.
So Snooker is really that popular in the UK? I noticed at least two effects mentioning Snooker. If a similar compilation was attempted in the states I bet there would be at least one NASCAR related routine. Anyhow, back on topic, great job guys. Some wonderful material in this book. I do hope a sequel is in the works, but no rush, there's plenty in here to keep us all busy for a bit. Cheers, and thanks again, (especially to Peter Duffie for taking this project on.) DT3 |
