That "free of charge" part is what bothers me.

I don't perform free. I don't feel that I need to have videos of my act on television in Europe. As most of us on the Café, I live in the US. So I don't see any benefit to it.

Ask the Donner party what can happen from too much exposure. You can die from it and your friend eat you!

A lot of people on this forum have no idea why I don't want my stuff on YouTube or any other internet source. This is the reason.

When I was first starting as a serious professional performer, one of our local television stations contacted me about doing a 30 minute show featuring three of the different characters I performed in. So I did. It wasn't horrible, but it definitely isn't up to what I could do within a couple more years of performing.

The station gave me a copy of the broadcast, which was on U-matic tape. This is the old 3/4" videotape they used at TV stations back then. So I took it to the folks I bought all of my video and sound gear from to have them dub it onto VHS.

They did this for the cost of the tape and a very small fee.

A few years later, I was in the same shop. One of the guys said, "You know that tape you had us dub for you a while back? Well, every year at our holiday party, we play that tape. It sure is funny!"

Every time they played that tape at their party, it was lost business.

And if my commercial clients thought that was what I do now, they would never hire me.

Hi guys,

we run magicians show reels because they are just that...a showreel which gives a taste of the magicians act - not the whole performance.

why make a showreel if you don't want anyone to see it?

plus our channel is designed for both magicians and the public, so its interesting to see how other magicians present their showreels as well as getting a taste of how their acts look.

we are not asking magicians to perform for free....we provide our service for free to magicians who wish to reach the widest possible audience for their publicity video.

our channel took a lot of time and money to set up and we are happy to release the platform for interested performers to run their content on in the highest possible televison quality.
