Does anybody already use this gimmick?
Any reviews? The trailer looks too good to be true. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC1WOmADf_Q )

It looks goofy to me , but I don't like fire tricks that much .

Yes I wondered the same thing , How to get in and out of an effect is sometimes more important than the effect itself.

Good question... As I'm french too (like the creator of the prop) I read about this months ago, and I know that the wrok on this was redone to make it better, so I expect something really usefull and practical, but anyway I need too confirmation on that before buying it ...

Take another look, what you see(or don't) is what you get.

The Computer Graphics at the beginning and the end could be seen as misleading to some. You have to determine what the device really can do. Personally, I like what I saw.

I think it looks great. It seems to add something to some seemingly "old" device. I wish it is what I thought, it just looks great and practical!!

Can tell us about fuel/ignition requirements? Does it require flash paper or flash cotton? It looks like a lycopodium flame burst.

I like what I see too, but I need to know a few things before purchasing:
(1) can the hands be shown completely empty before-hand? (2) If so, is gimmick retrieval automatic, or do you have to reach for it? (3) Can the hands be shown completely empty after the effect? (4) If so, is gimmick retraction automatic, or do you have to ditch it? I'd also love to know if Lycopodium is the fuel for the flame, since I have long been looking for a discreet delivery method for lyco. Also, is the smoke in the first demo real? or a special effect added in post-production? |

Good questions... I know only that it needs flash cotton, refills are sold for this specific effect (Hocus Pocus has them I think...)

I'm just wondering, can this be done close up? I'm just afraid that the flame or the noise maybe too big or too loud that will scare the close up audience. I know this is designed for stage, I'm just wondering if this is possible for close up? By the way, is it a one time set up? Like once you have prepared, you can wait till the "one" time you gonna use it?

Can someone give this a review? I saw they also sell the refill pack, but it's for a dozen's performance only, which in fact it's ok to me. I'm just wondering do you need the refill pack so you can perform the effect or you can supply your own?

Hi there
I will try to answer (as I can) to the questions first don t worry about refill pack some flash coton and a little somethings that you can find everywhere and which is very cheap will work perfectly ... now about the noise ,yes it s a little loud and if you use it s better not in restaurant I think ... it could be use in close up situation with some care ... you can show your hand empty but just like a brief flash ... the gimmick stay in the hand and will not be notice if you move your hand or don t make any importance on it if you use it on stage than no problemo , it will not be notice for sure ,before and after after the use I prefer to ditch it ..that will be easy ....no retraction system but that not a big problem I think I hope it help regards |

I was sent one in error, and thought it was ridiculously overpriced. There is nothing supplied that you can't find in your magic drawer already, and the materials would cost about $5. Although I didn't open the one I was sent, (though it's only packed in a small plastic bag), I'd also guess that it's unreliable - as I've used the gimmick that fires the wool many times in other effects and gags, and know this particular igniton method to be less than perfect.
From what I've seen, I'd say this should be selling for about $10 or less. Potty : ;) |
