I have a rising card effect in which the deck must be reversed (turned end-for-end) before the selected card is inserted back into the pack. This is tricky, because it depends upon watching the spectator after he chooses a card and noticing whether he turns his card in the normal course of handling it. Well, I tried this effect today, and believe it or not, I had to do it three times before I finally got it right! One time I tried NOT turning the deck and it still didn't work! Needless to say, this lessened the impact of the effect. Unfortunately, this is the kind of trick that's hard to practice by yourself. Is there a trick to this? Do you find that every spectator handles their card differently? Do you have to watch them very carefully to see what they're doing? Since this is a basic move with the Stripper deck, I was surprised by how tricky it has turned out to be.

Are you using a Devano style deck (with the WE***t)? If so the deck does not need to be reversed, just tip the gaff.

Nope, it's not a Devano deck, the deck definitely needs to be reversed in this one. But this question also applies to any trick in which the deck needs to be reversed (which are many), including those relying on one-way back patterns.

Can you fan the cards? then there should be no real problem: after the spectator takes out his card, close the fan from left to right...hard to explain: so, assumed you hold the deck in the left hand and do a thumb-fan, the top card of the deck should now be on the right end of the fan, the bottom card at the left end. if you now close the fan starting at the left end the deck should automatically be reversed. hope you get it...

Ah, but that's not my problem...the problem is what the SPECTATOR does with the card he selects. Does he himself reverse it while he's holding it and showing it around to the rest of the group? If so, then MY reversing of the deck is counteracted!
