Hi,
Could any tell me where I could get a $1/2 size gold Chinese Coin with hole in the middle (I want to put into a $1/2 shell), also a matching colour Jumbo Chinese Coin for the finish? All magic dealer these days mainly sell black Chinese coins with brass edges, like Johnson's. I reckon it doesn't looks very good against a black close up mat, I don't want to just change the color of the mat. Any ideas where I could get them please? Thanks. Although I know these might be the closest I could get: Chinese coin dollar size: http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=TA1790 Jumbo Chinese Coin: http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=CO4138 Bob

Although not gold, these come in colors that would stand out against a black close up pad and are supposed to be half dollar sized.
http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=CO6322 This may be closer to what you want, since they are brass colored. It doesn't say they are exactly the size of a half dollar, so I would call them and have them verify that a half shell will fit over one of them. http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=MI2937 Problem is... neither of these seem to have a match jumbo counterpart. |

Here's another source for various chinese coins: http://www.joemogar.com/ (click on "chinese and US coin magic" link on left side of page) The various colored chinese coins also have some NICE e]'s available that are pained on the INSIDE. I don't want to restart the debate about flashing the inside, but I have done it and the spectator cannot tell! I put together a set that includes black, white, red, and blue coins as well as a flipper, e]'s, and matching color changing chinese coin (basic sun/moon version, not the magnetic one). The possibilities are endless for developing routines using this set. I have a jumbo in black. But he also offers a red one. Also, they are only $20 for the jumbos vs. $30-40 elsewhere. I also got a "stretched" version which makes for a fun alternate kicker ending!

Thanks Bob,
The link is very helpful and I m deciding which I should order as they have Red Jumbo Coin. The only thing is I doubt the standard red chinese coin is gonna fit into a half dollar shell. Also, do you have the stretched coin and is it only comes in black? When you hand out the stretched coin to examine (as stated), I'd presumre it's in its STRETCHED status, is it? Thanks Bobby

My stretched coin is black. I think that's the only color they come in.
The stretched coin is completely examinable. It is simply a solid stretched coin. It doesn't convert from normal to stretched. As the spectator pulls it from your hand, it emerges gradually, giving the appearance that they caused it to stretch AS they pulled it from your hand. You could do a matrix, coins across, etc. routine with strictly red coins. Ring in the red/black coin and do a color change effect for one of the coins. Then end by stretching the coin that just changed from red to black. You could also do any C/S type effects using some red coins, some black coins and the R/B coin. I'm not sure if these chinese coins fit with a US half dollar ], but like I said, there are matching chinese coin ]'s for these that work quite nicely. I have both a red and a black ].

I'm looking for black Chinese coins that are the same size as pre-1921 Morgan dollars. The Morgans I'm using measure about 1 7/16".

I don't know if there is a china town in your area, if there is you can usual pick up some good coins, not anameled, copper or gold tones half and dollar sized. Bring your sell to check the fit. The last set I bought I use for Troy Hooser;s Chinese Challenge, cost me a buck apiece. I also have ast thathat I bought fo mabe ten dollars a year or so ago, six gold tone half dollar size, I just- check they fit in an exoanded sheel and three other coins, 2.5, 4 and 6 inch.
Just a suggestion, coins don't always have to come from a magic store. |

For gold Chinese coins that are thin (much better for Hooser's CCC), check out Elmwood Magic. If the link below does not work, you can search on http://www.elmwoodmagic.com for "thin Chinese coin".

I also found this source:
http://themagicwarehouse.com/tcoin5.html Scroll down about 2/3 of the way down the page. They offer a 3" as well as a 4-1/2" jumbo Chinese coin.

I second the recommendation for the Royal Chinese coins. There's much nicer than the standard painted washer, and relatively inexpensive as well.

I am looking for a jumbo chinese coin about 3 inches in circumfrence. This coin must be very thin to match the coin produced at the end of the visible chinese coin mystery, sold by Tango Magic. Look at the demo to see what I am talking about.

Ton Onosaka makes probably the best Chinese/ Old Japanese Coins on the market. Check out: http://www.seomagic-usa.com/catalog/inde......a/page/2
All the various standard sizes you will need. Made from solid brass, great weight and excellent quality. About 20 times better than the royal magic ones whose plating will wear off after moderate use. They will visually match Tango's coins J C
