I'm visiting my parents at the moment and, while using their computer, I noticed by google rankings had dropped. Yet, on my laptop, my rankings have NOT dropped.


Could I ask people to search for the phrase MELBOURNE MAGICIAN and tell where where conman.com.au and funnybones.com.au rank?

Expect to see similar results more in the future. Ad's can be targeted to the location of the viewer. YOu can pay Google for a better ranking in certain situations. With GPS based applications becoming available (the iPhone and similar products are fueling this) you will see more location based advertisements.

It doesn't make sense for me to pay extra for a placement when someone views my Ad in New Zealand since I'm in northeast USA, while it might pay to be placed higher in Massachusetts. Such differences can occur without having paid ad's as well. Google tries to make things more useful for the folks doing the search.

Im not referring to advertisements but standard google rankings.

It can also depend on what data center you are currently pulling from..
google has 12 I believe currently

don't panic yet.. give it 7 days if your still slipping then start to worry..
dropping one day could be a BUNCH of things.. and well sometimes it fixes itself..

other times its because google has changed the algorithm and well that means we have to adapt...
